Could have taken them off a couple of weeks ago.

Depends on if you are driving in BC. If you are, you need winters until April 30.

I alway remove my winters after Easter. Which now typing that out is depressing.

Take them off usually after Victoria Day, but regretted that last year.

Labour Day so that you can get a good month's worth of driving on the summers before putting the winters back on.

M+S (which is on nearly all All-Season Tires) meets that reg. But, if you're driving to BC winter tires would still be the better choice until ~mid May.

You technically only need M+S tires which most all season tires have.
We use dedicated winters on both of our vehicles but for both vehicles the "summer" tires are also ok for BC winter driving.

Pretty sure you meant to say all weather tires.

All weather tires have the 3-peak mountain snow flake. All season tires don't have to have any certification but they often (always?) have M+S. The three peak mountain snowflake is superior to M+S in winter but only M+S is required in BC.

Nope. Sometimes the M+S is stamped really small, but it's on every set of tires I've ever checked.

Nobody likes to see this thread bumped, and Environment Canada cannot be trusted beyond about 3 or 4 days, but.... it looks like winter tire season might be arriving sometime around Sunday. Subject to change, obviously, but we can't dodge it forever.
Just a heads up for those that might need to book in before the rush. And if you do it yourself like me, it is almost time to dust off the torque wrench.

Yeah, did my family's on Sunday. Zero sympathy for the people that wait too long - we're in the latter half of October. Time to get on it, slackers.

I'm certainly a slacker. But I can do it in 30 minutes, so I'll wait until I see snow, dammit!

Something invigorating about kneeling in the road as the snowflakes descend.

I'll ride it out as long as possible, but I can do it in my garage at short notice as the snowflakes start to fall. It is actually a nice ritual. Put a hockey or soccer game on the TV, have a beer or two, and get 'er done.
That being said, because I am such a nice guy and the preferred tire swap facility for my parents two vehicles, my sister's two, and a friend's, (in addition to two of my own) it is time to start putting everyone on notice. They usually bring a couple of drinks and help out, so it isn't a bad thing at all to do while hanging out.

Yeah, that's totally fine when you can just do it in your garage (sorry, don't recall...do you have a garage at your place?). It's when somebody needs to go to a tire shop and they're scrambling around during the first big dump like an October or November snowfall was some crazy surprise out of nowhere.

I wait as long as possible but a guy near me does it on short notice for $25. I have winter rims and tip generously.
