First, it was conducted over a long weekend, traditionally a time disdained by professional pollsters because such timing encourages dubious results. Second, it contained a huge sampling of voters under 35 (probably because Mom was busy basting the turkey), fully a third of the respondents, more than double what it should have had. Leger tried to finesse this by applying heavy weighting to its results to account for the disproportionate numbers of young voters.

Possibly. But he must have thought Higgins was the biggest threat. Nenshi was nothing. He only came charging down the stretch a few weeks ago and by then nothing McIver could do.

Think so?
I also don't think McIver would have gotten 70% of Higgins votes which is what he would needed as it turns out cause he's going to lose by over 20000.

I switched my vote to Nenshi from Dr. No today after browsing the platforms online. I suspect many others did the same as the impression I got from people was that Dr. No was their guy. I voted based on a selfish superficial issue, Nenshi's verbage on abolishing the $3 park n' ride fee sounded to have the most action behind it. That's ~$600 extra in my pocket at the end of the year if it goes through.

I'm going to leave my Nenshi lawn sign up tomorrow. There will be lots of people to piss off in McKenzie Towne.

So why did the pro-bridge people lose and the anti-bridge people win. I still think without that vote the incumbants would have been able to stumble to another win.

And for wanting to install change machines on CTrain platforms. Good lord. There's no way something like that should help win a municipal election. So long overdue.

Its democracy at work, more choices means more versatility.
Mciver would have won if no one else ran, just like how Nenshi might not have won if I had ran...
Congrats to Nenshi.
I hope Mciver find success in the future politics. I would love for him to take steady eddies job.
