Same as last years draft. I think the insiders are trying to drum up interest where there likely isn't much

I can guarantee you there's plenty of interest in Ras.
Top 4 minute munching 40 point RD with snarl and leadership. They don't grow on trees despite popular belief.

Not saying there isn't just that draft day won't be filled with trades like everyone would have you believe

I’m not sure we see any. Moving Ras will move past July 1 for sure and it wouldn’t shock me if Andersson starts the season as a Flame at this point. Conroy trying to squeeze out a good return but I’m thinking what we end up with may be pretty mediocre.

Having Andersson on the roster to start the season would be a huge mistake in my opinion, he plays a style where injuries can occur (blocked shots etc)

100% agree, to mitigate injury risk CC may have to settle a bit on the return.

There are offers but they must improve.
So I am guessing Flames are targeting 2026 picks for Andersson

I’m disappointed too, I figured they would be offloading Ras at the draft.
It does sound like teams all wanted Dobson, and when he went off the board Rasmus was next up but the offers weren’t the same quality.
I’m still told the focus is to move him before the start of the season.
So I have to trust that.

Flames management, if they wait after the July 1st, everything slows down
Teams run out of cap, that's a mistake in my opinion.

Thanks Royale, I would like to think that they knew they weren’t going to get the same return as Dobson got. I like Ras but he isn’t at Dobson level of value. Nonetheless, I’m with you and hope they move Ras before the start of the season.

Thing is offers aren't going to the the same quality and Flames shouldn't expect that.
Dobson was a 25 year old RFA that teams were able to sign for 8 years and get the prime of his career.
Andersson is great but he's turning 29 and is a pending UFA.
Maybe if they moved him last draft with 50% retention they would have gotten something close to the Dobson return but they waited too long.
IMO now the longer they wait the more risk is that the returns just get worse.

Team can’t catch a break
Stl goes on crazy run and squeaks past us into playoffs
Lose the draft lottery by one number
Players we’ve traded didn’t allow us to max value by limiting destinations
And now Ras undervalued by rival GMs (so much for some insiders - no dig at Royle/Sec/Diss - who said Andersson would be more valuable)
At least we didn’t draft a goalie in the first round. Right now, that’s all we got.

FWIW, the Athletic has the Flames in the ‘winners’ category this morning after the first round.
I think it was bit of a long shot for the Flames to turn Andersson into a top 10 pick which, really, was the only pressure point for yesterday. I think it has always been far more likely that the primary piece in an Andersson trade is going to be a ‘26 first round pick. And, it’s likely going to be protected.
Let’s see what happens today. I still have my eyes on Columbus. They have a need at RHD.

Hard to say if the Flames are asking too much or just didn’t want another late first in this draft. The only team that I thought had a shot with a higher pick this draft was Columbus but that was mainly based on Monahan etc. I can’t see any reason Andersson would want to sign in Buffalo and the other top 15 teams didn’t really make sense for an Andersson trade if he wants to go to a real contender.
So if they are going to get a mid late 1st and a prospect back then taking a swing next year makes sense. Might get less than if they traded him at the deadline last year we will just have to see how it turns out. The Markstrom trade turns out great in the summer.
