This week leading into the draft, it really felt like an Andersson deal was going to happen. Obviously the right offer never materialized. Still feels like a little bet of a let down. Oh well.

Flames traded Dougie on day 2 of the draft. Maybe it will be more of a player for player deal with Ras?

If there are three or four teams left in on Andersson, the offers will probably increase after Ekblad comes off the board July 1.

Watch Ekblad be the big name free agent this year that doesn't sign for several weeks, ####ing up the market for everybody else.

			I bet it's true.

They wanted to get into that first group of centers.

If McQueen is there at 12, I bet they make the penguins swap

Flames wanted to get into the first run on centers, it definitely wouldn't surprise me as they were talking to Buffalo quite a bit.
I don't have anything to verify, its been quiet since the draft started on my end.

			Dreger on Insider trading:
Flames willing to be patient on Andersson.
Right package must be given to Conroy otherwise there is no urgency to move him
Dreger says package must be primarily future driven.
There are offers but they must improve.

So I am guessing Flames are targeting 2026 picks for Andersson

The perceived value of today's picks was at its highest this week. A much stronger draft next year is at its lowest value today and over the next few days. The Flames can get potentially more value out of next year's pick(s) in an upcoming trade.

I agree.

Also, their own 1st round pick is their most valuable asset.

Don’t enter the season with Andersson on the roster. Don’t do it.

Secure another 1st round pick in 2026 this Summer.

it's so easy to say that - go get a 2026 first rounder. Smart teams know it's a better draft and are loathe to trade those picks. And teams that want Ras are probably good teams drafting late. Which devalues the pick as we are picking Potter and Reschny type prospects with those picks.

I hope that Conny can get a budding superstar with the Ras trade. But by all accounts, looks like Dallas wants a futures package in any Robertson trade now so they can have cap flexibility and that doesn't work for us.

Maybe we can get an early second tomorrow in a Ras deal (if it happens at all during the draft). If not, hope we can capitalize on a younger forward (with skill and size) who hasn't popped yet and can develop into that player. We shall see.

I think the best value for Ras comes when we can both retain salary and sign and trade. Now, I don't know if his ask is reasonable, but I think top value for a trade would be about july 2nd-15th. Not really concerned about things until August to be honest.
