They need to win some so that Chia and MacT can keep their jobs. I'd be worried if they go on a longer losing streak.

Just watched the highlights - thought oils actually dominated a game. Wow, Niemi looked worse than Smith. Almost every goal he let in was stoppable. Nice way for the oils to continue to build on false hope. Waiting for a Staples article on how oils dominated!

Niemi was feast and famine. He had to repeatedly stop a few really great chances but eventually broke down.

I didn't think the Oilers looked that good. The Habs looked terrible. Way slower than when Calgary played them.

I wonder if it's David Staples?

Residents and drivers question massive amount of traffic signs on south Edmonton street

Spoiler!

That looks like one of those viral photoshop pics that gets debunked right away. But nope, just actual Edmonton.

It's similar to how Canuck trolls on CL have gone back on the offensive now that they have Pettersson performing well. It's amusing to observe.

The excuse the City of Edmonton gave was pretty lousy too: "We were following the manual." They missed a few key components of the manual in my opinion. Clutter is just as bad as not having enough signs.

From section A.1 of the manual they referenced in the article:
Quote:
To be effective, all traffic control devices must meet five basic requirements:
- fulfill a need;
- command attention;
- convey a clear and simple meaning;
- provide adequate time for a proper response; and
- command the respect of the road users.

Simplicity in design, care in placement and a high standard of maintenance are essential.
From Section A1.4:
Quote:
Well-chosen and well-located signs will assist drivers in the driving task and route selection. Improper or excessive use of regulatory and warning signs may produce disrespect for signs in general.
I mean, it's Edmonton, so I guess they're destined to be no good at these things.

All of those signs and yet the only one that got taken down is the one that said "City of Champions."

They're going to raise a "Most Signs!" banner aren't they?

Whoa, was not expecting these responses! I don't see why you guys/gals/cis are so hostile. You lot are very unwelcoming, like a pack of wolves gnawing at someone who is new to the country club. Simmer down and let's talk about hockey, is that not what this site is about?

Maybe this is a "sign" that the city is no good.

Edmonton prides themselves on being a capital. That's their claim to fame.
This is them trying to be the sign capital of Alberta.

I want them to lose at least enough so that McLellan gets the can and Gully takes over (because everyone else said hell no), but not enough so that Chia-Pet loses his job.
