By Spring thier focus will be on something else.
The nice thing for them when they had their tents is that they could disguise their numbers behind the empty tent strategy.
Now I saw a picture of a downtown protest that happened a couple of days ago and there were maybe 8 people.
The Occupy Calgary movement and really most of the other occupy movements have started to wither and die.

Looks like Camp Calgary cost us at least $100,000. Funny, in one of the warmest winters I remember, I have yet to see a single person protest again since they stopped illegally camping. No real issues actually worth protesting about apparently.

Tavis Ford, a member of the Occupy movement, said the city’s decision to patrol more frequently wasn’t necessary as the group wasn’t a threat.
“It’s unfortunate that it went this way, but sometimes, in the process of change, these costs are incurred by the state, and the taxpayer does bear the burden of that,” he said. “But it is, perhaps, a necessary cost.”

Huh
So a stabbing, people lighting themselves on fire stupidly, and its no reason to increase patrols. Combined with them pooping up the park, people not feeling comfortable using the park.
If your protest would have made sense Travis then maybe the cost would have been ok. As it is the only think that you did was cost the taxpayers, you know the 99% $100,000.00

Brittany Lundy, one of the protesters, said the new cost estimates were irrelevant unless the city plans to pursue compensation.
“This is all bogus and it has been since the beginning, so nothing has changed,” she said.
Meanwhile, Scott Hennig, the Alberta director for the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, said he believes council should pursue the protesters as a deterrent to other potential bylaw-breakers.
“They probably won’t get a cent back,” he said. “But it still may be worth going after them to send the message to anyone else going after the law.”

I feel sorry for the parents of those losers. When your kid is less productive than a bottle picker, it's got to be embarrassing.

That quote from Brittany Lundy is the dumbest thing I've read in a while. The only reason I can imagine she thinks the new cost estimate is irrelevant is because she doesn't how money works.

I think that it sets the stage nicely for the inevitable spring return of these luddites. They've already stated that they're showing up to reprotest after the cold weather passes.
Just greet them with smiley faces and an invoice for the park rental for camping fees. Then when they can't pay seize their camping equiptment and sell it at a auction.

In Vancouver, they tried to set up camp on Commercial Drive after getting kicked out of downtown. In downtown they were occupying the nicest public space downtown. They then figured they could move into the brand new park built in a lower income neighbourhood, as it was lower income and the people would cause less trouble.
The local mothers confronted the protestors and told them to F-off. Commercial Drive is home to many low income people, the people they were supposedly representing, but they wanted nothing to do with occupy:

When more than 30 Occupiers arrived at Grandview Park around 6 p.m., they were greeted by park users who were not impressed.
"They say kids are going to be able to still go there and still play and that they're welcome," says Mireille, who was among those confronting protesters. "Do you really think a bunch of little kids are going to want to be around 100-plus people that are chanting and stuff? No, that's really intimidating."
"They say they're trying to respect it and are not going to destroy it, but I really doubt that. I mean you did you see the mess downtown outside of the Art Gallery?" she adds.

I had mentioned before I know one of the guys who was so active in occupy Calgary, and mentioned also how he used to be such a cool guy and even with some issues he had still a great guy.
His change from that guy I knew once to the hippie protester I see today leaves me nearly speechless. I worry for his sanity now, going to such a point as to make me wonder if he can get any worse (I hope not.)
But if people ask why I worry about movements like "the secret" and also these new spiritualism&hippie movements its because it does things like this to you
