It's nothing to do with protection, because children aren't being threatened in any meaningful way by the existence of the LGBTQ community.
What's threatened is the parents' ability to control what their children hear, see and consume. But forcibly sheltering children from certain concepts that may resonate with their children due to their own irrational fears is just selfish.
Seems like the only thing these kids need protection from is the harmful overbearing nature of their own parents. Because it is an ansolute guarantee that they'll do far more damage to these kids as they grow up than any community or group outside of the home.

The religious nutjobs and conspiracy whackos are convinced that "sex discussions" are being forced upon their kids. The only people bringing up sex are the nuts. This is simply about showing children it's ok to accept people who are different and if you are different you can love who you are.
It's these f'ing lunatics that keep bringing up sex because they're mentally unstable and working with a diminished mental capacity, it helps push their argument. They simply hate gay people and don't want them to feel like valid people or be accepted.

This is such a stupid POV. Parents should not have final say on school curriculums. Beyond the fact that parents, solely on the basis of being parents, are not experts in childhood education, the logistics of trying to set a province-wide curriculum that every parent has a say in is beyond impossible. Not to mention that parents have always had the option of opting their children out of sex ed.
If parents do not like what is being offered by the public system, they are welcome to put their kids in private school or homeschool them.

Protecting their kids from being taught how to suck semen out of someone's a$$hole is, apparently, one of the classes these morons think will be taught in grade 9 health class. Saw it on FB today.
I just talked to a person mere minutes ago who believes that they are teaching children how to put your penis into a butthole. They actually believe the lessons being taught to little children cover instructions on how to have gay sex.
That's who these people are and what they are so eager to believe.
Every time I think maybe PP is a more palatable choice than Trudeau he shows why I can't stand him. I guess he is saying he supports transphobia and homophobia?

Can you really blame PP though? he was born in a test tube at the Manning Institute.

There's a group in the LML here, like a 3rd party educational group, that goes around to various schools here to teach stuff about sex. I don't know all the details about what they teach, but I know my kid came home pretty upset. She told me they told her about ball sacks, boners, and p*ssies. I was kind of shocked and asked her if that's what the kids were calling it, and she said no, that is what the teachers called it. She told us they told the class that it is ok to touch them if it feels good. That was last year when she was 7. I talked to other parents who said their kids said the same thing. I wasn't like furiously mad or anything, but I wasn't happy. I put a lot of trust into the system and assume there is a logic behind it, but it just seems like something you should not be talking to 7 year olds about, or the type of language you should be using.
I also don't know if this came from the same class, but it seems like practically all of her friends and then some, go around saying that they are gay. And it is totally fine if they are of course, but I don't think most of them really are. But I think they are learning that it somehow gives them positive attention or something. I am sure they out grow it, but it is kind of weird.

One of the things I find challenging in this whole debate - if we can call it that - is the lack of reporting about what actually is taught in schools, which surely varies region to region.
There are so many stories about the protests, the counterprotests, quotes from advocates on both sides, but virtually no details about what kids are actually taught and when. It's hard for anyone to find common ground if no one knows what's actually happening and what isn't.

Is there really a lack in reporting what is taught in schools? You can email teachers and have plenty of opportunities to find out what is going on with your child’s education. If parent’s don’t know what their children are being taught, it’s because they’re ignorant and lazy and probably shouldn’t have had kids to begin with if they can’t be bothered.

That's pertaining to your child. General public isn't hearing the curriculum.
CBC, CTV., Global, print media 100% should be reporting what the curriculum **actually** is.
That way if there's anything sideways it should be corrected. Note: I learned with medical terminology in grade 3, not slang, although I would fully expect the teacher to confirm slang; like if Little Johnny asks if a p***y is a vagina, the teacher should confirm but continue to use the medical term.
Also, the public that is outraged that they're showing 5 year olds gay porn can be reassured that ain't happening.
