This was when most of the players went into the locker room (many came out after a bit with the bubbly), but Dickey stayed out (caught a bit on the Fox broadcast before cutting away) and was a beauty. Recall this is a 41 year old man.

This guy is hilarious. What is his role on the team? Is he just like a funny mascot guy or something?
He's not a good ball player, as he said in an interview that he has noodle power while flexing his arm. He's just such an awesome cheerleader that he is awesome to have in the dugout to keep everyone else centered.

I know this is now moot, but the outcome of the crazy play in the 7th still doesn't sit right; regardless of the rule, the play was waved off. What if the players had reacted differently - Odour stops, but Donaldson keeps going, throws to Martin who tags Odour out. If the run is allowed to count regardless of wave off, you would have to say that a tag out is legit.
I really don't imagine they would have called it that way though...

No reason for Odour to stop though because the ump can't call time when the ball is live. I don't know what he was thinking there but it didn't affect the play because Odour was almost home when he did it and the Jays were all just standing around.
Your hypothetical situation where the opposite happened would have been interesting though, and a lot harder to sort out. I think they even mentioned that in the game.
Moot point though because Odour recognized what was going on the whole way, there was no way he was going to stop even with the ump's brain cramp.
Really weird play but not unheard of. The fact that it was the go-ahead run in an elimination game is what really caused the controversy.

I know what you're saying but think of it this way.
Imagine after Bautista hit his home run in the bottom of the 7th, as soon as he did the bat flip imagine if the home plate umpire came out and called play dead before the ball went over the fence.
Should that mean play is dead and Dyson gets to pitch to Bautista again?
Of course not.
It's a weird play. I understand what you're saying completely. However, if you apply the same issue (umpire calling the play dead) in another situation where he can't, then it wouldn't affect the outcome.
Like Fire of the Phoenix said it wouldn't have affected the outcome even if it wasn't called dead as Martin was in no position to field the ball, nor was Donaldson or Sanchez.
It was a freak play. They happen, it seems more so in the playoffs.
