Well Nenshi didn't vote for Singh! lol Change the damn name!
Quote:
Nenshi promised to end the automatic connection to the federal NDP in his successful campaign to succeed Rachel Notley as NDP leader last year.
He didn't vote for the federal New Democrats this past election, and he was pleased delegates agreed the policy needed to change, Nenshi told reporters.

Is she resigning and disbanding the UCP? that's a bold step I could get behind.
Otherwise I feel I may use the expression "daft ####" several times tomorrow afternoon.

Nenshi should just use the colour blue, changed the party name to Compatible Converatives and put an Alberta logo in the middle. Use the confusion to your advantage. Hell if First Lady is around we could hire her and her husband, they've played this game before.e

She did say yesterday that she had a positive meeting with Carney recently where they found some common ground. So hopefully it’ll be about that. But sadly it probably won’t. She’ll definitely say something stupid and divisive. It’s her whole schtick.

Carney has indicated he will quickly hold a by-election for the Leader of the Opposition who was voted out of office. If he wanted to play petty politics, he would make a statement along the lines of “Albertans, as indicated through the actions of their Premier, do not have an appetite for by-elections at this time. When the actions of the government indicate they are ready for by-elections, we will revisit the issue.”

The CBC article this week about the Trans Mountain pipeline not yet being used to full capacity and Alberta is producing more oil than ever right now - didn't help the whole Federal Government is screwing Alberta case. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calga...full-1.7525284

Great article. Learned a lot and not surprisingly the myths surrounding this pipeline are complete bullsh.
Thank God Trudeau and Notley got this thing built when they did.
Also, written by Paula Duhatschek? Awesome

That NDP vote has passed.
Quote:
Alberta’s New Democratic Party has voted overwhelmingly to cut traditional membership ties with its federal counterpart.
Delegates in Edmonton voted Saturday to allow provincial members to opt out of joining the federal NDP, a move Leader Naheed Nenshi campaigned on last year.
In adopting the measure, the party is shedding what many considered a political albatross.
Nenshi told reporters the party’s longtime practice of automatically signing up members to the federal party was a sticking point that scared some potential voters and members away.
The change, he said, will allow his NDP to build a bigger tent.
“It’s a great movement for the very, very many thousands and thousands of Albertans who really like what the Alberta NDP have to say, but don’t necessarily agree with the federal party — and this now gives them that choice,” he said.
“We will welcome those people into our movement. While you’ll still have the option of joining the federal New Democrats, if you join the provincial New Democrats, you don’t have to,” he said.
Nenshi said his NDP is financially independent and dictates its own policy, but party candidates spoke out, saying they needed a better answer when voters at the door tied them to the federal party’s positions during the 2023 provincial election.

Taking a massive U-turn, the government finally realizes they've been derelict in their duties and killing off voters isn't really great for holding on to power. It appears over the weekend they discovered that science exists, and public health education turns out to be one of their responsibilities.
Quote:
“We are looking at one of the largest outbreaks in nearly 40 years. When fewer people are protected, measles spreads—and the risks go up. Immunization is the best way to protect yourself and loved ones from measles. Get immunized against measles now and help prevent the spread. Help protect your communities.”
