Good question, would need more data to demonstrate some kind of causal link between lack of vaccine support by the UCP and outcomes (or maybe the broader sentiment towards vaccines across society is more influential and the UCP policy just exacerbates it).
Did find this: https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/ont...fd7141d76.html
But couldn't easily find a similar graph for Ontario

Kenney was deeply ideologically opposed to COVID shut downs but did them anyways because he was a reasonably good leader in that he actually listened to experts around him. He made some bonehead moves during that same period to service his ideological needs, but by and large made difficult (especially for him) decisions for the betterment of the province.
The service of anti-vax positions framed as a "choice" for the user type of argument and the leadership that has enabled that is the reason we have measels again, and more flu deaths as Fuzz pointed out.
I am a relatively new parent, kids both 5 and under. I think the amount of parents currently reticent about vaccines is absolutely staggering. I am vocal when I hear it, but just the other day I found out one of my "best" Dad friends is hesitant about vaccines for his kids. Leaders giving room for these opinions have been like bellows on tinders of conspiracy idiots in our society. Now everyone feels like they can and should question experts.

Equally silly as those trying to post graphs showing increasing influenza deaths as related to poor leadership without providing greater context?
Yes, influenza deaths have increased (in every jurisdiction) over the last couple of years but to attribute it to wholly to leadership, as Fuzz and his post are doing, it wrong. It removes the greater context of the issue and is trying to say that policies of the government are solely responsible.
The causation between leadership and increases in influenza death as promoted by Fuzz is grossly overstated for political reasons.

To deny that having a government who does not support science based health policies, to such a degree the the CMOH felt he was muzzled by them to provide information that saves lives to Albertans and left the job because of it, is, to be blunt, ####ing daft.
I don't care about stupid people elsewhere. It's irrelevant. We have a government that has abdicated it's responsibilities around public health. That's the leadership failure. The evidence is bountiful. It does not need to get any more complicated than that.

It'd also be kinda great if you'd just give up on these failed dunk attempts, because you are batting worse than a T-rex. It only makes you look silly.

The secondhand embarrassment in watching it, knowing how hard he’s trying to land one, is bordering on uncomfortable.

Look, I understand that you get a massive boner whenever there is something posted that might be indicative of a failure of the government that you don't support but sometimes it is not as cut and clear as you think.
For example, based on the reporting of the CBC:
Quote:
• Since the 2021-2022 season all deaths that occur within 60 days of a lab-confirmed influenza case are followed up in a systematic way. This affects comparisons to previous years.
Source: Alberta Health (Robson Fletcher/CBC)

Albertans who want to join the United States or leave Canada are free to apply for a green card to the states. Alberta is going nowhere. It's a part of Canada.

The former Alberta cabinet minister removed from caucus says he's been pestering the government in question period and tabling a series of documents in the legislature in an effort to provide transparency.
Peter Guthrie says transparency is what's been missing from the United Conservative government as it continues to navigate a health-care contract scandal.
He told reporters Wednesday he's trying to make up for that by making public pages of meeting notes he kept from his time in cabinet.

That is quite the smack down from a couple of indigenous leaders. Smith would earn a tad bit of respect from me if tomorrow she came out in full support of Canada, that a referendum will never be in the table, that separation is not possible with concerns of indigenous peoples, that we can succeed together, etc.
She won’t though,

Ya, it says that at the bottom of the graphic, it's not a huge gotcha. Here's the article it's from. You can read it yourself if you think that dismisses the concerns of the experts quoted in the article.
Quote:
"It's clear the status quo right now is not having an effect. And that is evidenced now by three records in a row of influenza deaths," said Jenne.
He's concerned about Alberta's vaccination rates, which have plummeted in recent years.
"I worry because many of these may be preventable deaths," said Jenne, who is also the deputy director of the Snyder Institute for Chronic Diseases.
|
Quote:
Jenne is worried public health messaging is waning in Alberta and he's calling for a new approach.
"Past years, there had been very public campaigns about flu shot clinics opening and, unfortunately, in the last several years, those have been much more muted," he said.
He noted the number of Albertans without a family doctor to remind them about flu vaccination has grown.

My point stands. ####ty leadership is leading to unnecessary deaths and increased healthcare costs. And stop thinking about what gives me a boner, it's weird.

Kink's aren't something you are supposed to impose on others and make them uncomfortable. He can keep his spreadsheet of poster boner triggers to himself. That's fine. No need to make others feel weird about it.
