Agreed. I've got a night portrait session I want to do but we're still getting 8 degree nights. Not good for the models, particularly since I'm not paying them to suck it up.

Second place finisher Duncan Marsden of Calgary crests a tough hill at KM 15 during the 2nd Annual Millarville "Run To The Farmers' Market" Half Marathon held Saturday morning.
I run this road and up that hill a few times a week and had always wanted to shoot a photo like this from the top . . . . I had to organize a half marathon event to get the chance.
Nathan Kendrick won the event in 1:13:28. Former Canadian Olympian Lisa Harvey won the women's side with recent Calgary Marathon women's winner Nadyia Fry second. A little over 500 registrations for the half marathon & relay.
It was a great morning on Racetrack Road.

Goodness, she's adorable.
And the stare she's throwing in that last picture? Priceless.

Kind of a hot mess with the blurred petals in the front. Kinda wish they they weren't there. Oh well...I liked the colors. I had to really try and tone down the pink in post as they were really blown out to start.

The colours and bokeh are very nice. Have you ever tried focus stacking when shooting macro (either manually or digitally)? It can help a lot with the DOF.

I have actually been thinking about that. Can you focus stack hand held though? My understanding is you have to take several pics with different areas in focus. So far most of of my macros are hand held with a moving subject so I'm not sure how I would do that. The leaf was on a tripod but the branch was swaying ever so gently so that would have been tough I think.
Can you digitally focus stack with one photo?

No and no, unfortunately. Well, you can take a few handheld shots while refocusing but the processing software will get confused in the PP, because all frames will be somewhat different. Plus, not only you need a tripod, you would also need a focusing rail.
And no, you will need at least two shots to get the software help on this. This is one of the most challenging tasks in live macro, since the DOF is so shallow even at small apertures.

One of my pics from the storm chase tonight. Just south of Hussar, the storm was tornado warned at the time:
There are a couple more pics in the Ongoing Weather Thread.

Meh, I wouldn't let it bother you if it does. I don't really see it as cheating. I'm all for capturing everything in camera in one shot, but if the goal is to produce the best image possible, sometimes that's a composite. I would still call it a photograph.
Of course, I guess you have to draw the line somewhere, but you're not crossing it IMO. Cool capture(s), BTW.

One more from that same day.
This photo is pretty heavy handed in post (for me).

Tried a HDR shot during the sunset on Canada Day. Think it turned out pretty decent.
