I agree. I would also add that if Anderson wants to leave flames it’s for a legit chance of winning now , not years down the road. He’s not going to want to go to a team that is slightly ahead in the rebuild .

None of that will be evident enough 6 months from now or even 18 months from now. Don't block your top prospects.

You're pretty quick to write off a player who is still only 23 and who missed the majority of a season due to injuries. He was waived/sent down to give him the opportunity to develop his skills and work on his confidence, and he is one of the Wranglers' leading scorers. He's primarily an energy player, but has been a PPG player with the Wranglers. He's a good low cost option for bottom six winger once Kuzmenko is traded (and possibly Coleman, too). He will play again with the Flames this season.

I bet a lot of people were saying similar things about Costco before this season.

Love Costco but he doesn’t stick on many lineups outside of the Flames.

Yeah the Kirkland thing has been really romanticized.
He's amazing in shootouts, but hasn't been able to play up the roster. And the fourth line he plays on is getting out played significantly most nights.
It's Josh Jooris all over again.

I dunno man.
Aside from a period or two has he had a chance moving up the roster? 50% in FO's, 8pts, +7 in 18 games is better than most 4th line centers.

Actually his FO percentage is 42.7, and he has 2 points in his last 7 games, and as Bingo mentioned, he's getting caved in.
Nice story, but probably not a permanent NHLer.

This claim doesn't meet the eye test for me.
Hasn't the 4th lne been killing their opposition lately?
Was the one reliable line through the whole homestand
Not sure Kirkland has been the motor, but he's been part of that.

It’s doubtful that Utah is willing to part with Tij but that’s the kind of offer that Conroy is likely waiting for. Tij, Ritchie, Cowan is the level of prospect I expect him to wait for

That’s what I mean. Teams will likely have to offer something really significant to the point of it being considered an overpay for Conroy to consider trading Andersson right now. I could see that price going down if the flames started to struggle for a long period (taking them out of playoff contention) or if teams come knocking in the offseason.

I haven't watched every period of every game but I have yet to see this "caved in" scenario, not sure what you expect from a 4th line center?

Kirkland, Rooney Lomberg is not a strong 4th line, it's true - but Kirkland is the least problematic part of that equation. Both other forwards are better used in a 13th F role

So Lomberg is good enough to play 4th line on a SC champion team but not on the Flames?
OK then.

Flames 4th line has been really good. Definitely not an issue and a problematic line
As for Kirkland, on the radio they were talking about will he get a chance on a higher line...
He has 8 points in 18 games, for a 4th line role that's really good.
To put in perspective Kuzmenko has 1 goal and 9 points in 21 games
Pospisil has 7 points in 21 games each player getting allot more ice.

Kirkland-Rooney- Lomberg has a 52.6 xGF% and has went 3 GF - 1 GA in 56 minutes together.
They've been perfectly fine as a 4th line.

So back to trade rumours, I've heard twice the last few days to keep an eye on a possible Chicago/Calgary trade. no names mentioned but is a center like Kurashev on Conroys radar? or I wonder due to his small size if Frank Nazar is available now that they have Bedard.

Interesting..
Chicago was linked to Kuzmenko last year. Something around Kurashev/Kuzmenko swap?
