Weak suspension.
After the nut shot from Doc, nurses hit from behind, McDavid and Hymans hi sticks.... etc

The joke league clowns around yet again.
They don't even try to appear to be fair. It's such an embarrassment

At least the league isn’t trying to hide it anymore. It’s right out in the open.
Hopefully the Canucks can overcome the clear bias and win this series, but it’s going to be tough. No way this is the end of the preferential treatment for the Oilers.

WTF. How do you give Soucy a suspension but not Hyman. Soucy's crosscheck to the neck/face was unintentional, as McDavid was falling. Hyman was purposely crosschecking the face for revenge.

It's crazy how the usual talking heads down even mention the infractions by the Oilers. How can they be so blind? Especially those in Canada when it's an all-Canada matchup! I haven't heard Hyman's name mentioned once, and McDavid's slash is considered "part of the game" lol.

I’ve said it a bunch of times over the years but it’s hard enough to beat one team on the ice, but it’s damn near impossible to beat 2 teams. At least it’s only Soucy and not him and Zad gone.
It’s gonna be up to Vancouver to play a squeaky clean game from here on out against the oil.

Watching these goons and their fan base hand wave away all the infractions and #### they got away with, and bitch and moan about "just 1 game" is revolting.
Grease fans are the absolute worst in professional sports. Honestly, I have no doubt that they would support hiring Carla Humolka as their team's psychologist if they believed it would help their team win. Oiler fans truly have no moral compass or center. After going from five cups in six years to the garbage heap of the league, they became deranged. They're less like fans now and more like feral animals, which is why you see these horses asses fight each other like boozy hogs in their "viewing parties". What they call viewing parties is much more like something out of lord of the flies, but with truck nuts and sweat pants.
I hope they never enjoy another cup because they don't deserve it. Their behavior is disgraceful, and they act like pigs. It's a shame to see such lack of sportsmanship and respect in any fan base.

I don't know why I'm bothered by this.
The second I saw the play I knew one or both Canucks would be suspended. If anything a single game by one player is a bit of a win for the Canucks.
I mean, Soucy's cross check was far less intentional than Hyman's but as we've known for years there are two sets of rules in the NHL and that's just the way it goes. It was never about intent, but rather the name on the jersey.

NHL has gone full NBA with it's preferential treatment to it's most "marketable" player. Key is message is "don't #### with the money."
I get it, but man, NHL has such a weak player to protect in McDavid. He doesn't fulfill the face of the league image at all. NHL can only hope that one or two of the upcoming batch of new prospects entering the league can have more personality swagger to go with their generational level of talent. If you're going to be doin this for a player, do it for one that actually generates growth for the league. I get the impression that nobody really cares about McDavid outside of Edmonton and Sportsnet/ESPN.
I feel MacKninnon should get a lot more focus than he does currently.

Hats off to Vancouver if they pull this one off. They have to beat the league, the officials, the media and the Oilers (that’s the easy part).

McDavid wasn't even penalised for that slash! Imagine if the shoe was on the other foot? Notorious goon Carson Soucy and his long history of suspensions (one game back in 2021) would have been given a few games. McDavid gets nothing, not even a fine or penalty.

Even all of the media talk about protecting McDavid and how there needs to be an extra tax on punishment.
No one is pretending it doens't exist now (except Oilers fans), but sadly almost everyone is advocating for it.

I remember a few years ago when the Oilers got punted, Friedman openly lobbying the NHL to call more penalties because McDavid draws a penalty every play. Pretty much in tears crying that the precious Oilers could never win if the reffing didn't change. Sick guy.

Also, I don't see what this does to calm anything down. All it does is say McDavid has it's own set of rules.
IMO it should have looked something like this:
Zadorov gets a fine - third man in, after the whistle
McDavid gets a fine - two handed chop, after the whistle
Soucy gets a game - unintentional, but it's a stick the face and you have to control your stick
Hyman gets a game - intentional stick to the face and you have to control your stick
That sends a clear message to both teams that the after whistle stuff won't be tolerated and you shouldn't be hitting people in the face with your stick. Instead one team got the message and the other team can do as they please.
