Looks like big changes are coming to the Challenger tour next year. Love the move to clearly define events like they do on the ATP level with 70, 80, 95, 110 and 125 level events now.
points are the same, they are just re-branding.
The change from 32 to 48 player draws is a big one. They are essentially killing futures and making Challenger 70 the first level.

I love this as it cleans up the futures tour significantly with more spots available at the challenger level for pro players and keeps that circuit as more of a developmental tour with no rankings points available to players. The Futures circuit has lost its way with players like Steven Diez, Philip Bester etc playing these events when they are nowhere near 'futures' players now.

There will be a Canadian in the Granby Challenger final as Peter Polansky takes on Frank Dancevic in one of the semi-finals today. Also, Bianca Andreescu and Katherine Sebov are in the semi-finals in the women's ITF tourney (chance they could play each other in the final).
Vasek is scheduled to play young Aussie Alex de Minaur this afternoon, but it's raining at the Citi Open in DC, thus everything is going to be pushed back. TSN1 should have the match at some point today weather permitting.
Polansky has made it through to the R16 in Los Cabos. Huge win for him and still a decent shot at going further with a very open draw and next match against Mmoh. This might finally be his legitimate chance to crack the top 100 rankings.

Tough loss for Vasek last night, the humidity in DC seemed to really affect him as he dropped a three set decision to Alex de Minaur. Denis takes on Danill Medvedev this afternoon.
Is there a reason Peliwo and Schnur are not getting direct entry wild cards to this event? Maybe their rankings currently just too low to justify this but I have never heard of a rule relating to wild cards.

I'm not exactly sure what rationale goes into the decision to award wild cards to the main draw. I did read that Stan Wawrinka will have to go through qualifying in order to get into the Rogers Cup main draw (Stan lost a tough three-setter to Donald Young last night in Washington).
