What is the going market rate for a 35-36 year old with his current stats?

I'd say 20M-25M. The thing to nail down with Bautista is length. He is in ridiculous shape, but I wouldn't be too upset if he walked if this is any other team not owned by Rogers, because I honestly don't think you go more than 3 years with a guy of his age. The reason I would be upset with Rogers letting him go is that we all know there is ZERO chance they are going to reinvest that money in another player to replace him.
He's going to want a 5 year term which I believe he would easily get on the open market. Most teams who want to win are more than willing to eat those final 2 years if it helps them for the first 3, but we are dealing with Rogers here.

I just don't see how Bautista can expect more than Cruz/Ortiz.
I don't see teams being too eager to put him in the outfield, they are likely going to want him to DH. David Ortiz is one of the best DH's in history and he gets paid 16 million dollars. Nelson Cruz is making 14 million a season.
20 million plus salaries are reserved for position players.

Jays have traded for RP Jason Grilli of the Braves.
No clue what for, can't imagine it will be much.
Edit: for Sean Ratcliffe

Not sure adding a struggling pitcher to the struggling bullpen is the best move.

It's worth a shot. His poor season this year made him available to us for cheap. At this point anything that has a shot at helping isn't a bad move, might be neutral at worst.
He was great last year. For whatever that's worth

You gotta think he'll just pitch better just by not being around one of the worst teams ever.

I don't mind it. The cost is virtually nothing and his struggles are such that they can be mitigated by more situational usage (AKA avoid lefties). He can still K guys well and half his struggles against lefties is bad luck (.438 BABIP) of course the other half is all on him (Walks). So use him smart and that's a nice little pick-up.

He is a position player.
I'm not going to defend Bautista's D (Hasn't been good for a few years) but He's got a few shifts down on the defensive spectrum (Left-field and 1B) before he's made a DH.

Is Grilli better than Tepera? yes. Therefore it's a good move. Didn't cost anything.

Whats the worst Grilli does? Sucks and blows saves? Then he'd fit right in!

The Jays bullpen has set the bar pretty low. If Grilli can come into an inning and not give up home runs and consecutive doubles then its an improvement.

Sweet, Shulman is in the booth. I never really minded Buck and Pat in years past...then Shulman came along and spoiled it.
Buck and Pat really need to tone down the hoping/calling for a home run every time a Jay is up to bat.

So I watch the games on mlb.com usually when the commercials come on they turn off the feed, today instead they have decided to leave the commercials on, however, instead of regular commercials they just play the same one 4 times every half inning.
I am slowly going crazy, thanks captain obvious.

Wow looks beautiful in Toronto. I can't wait for the Vancouver Canadians to get their season going. Waiting until late June to watch a live baseball game is hard to do. I wonder if Vancouver could support a team with a longer season.
Shulman has the voice, the knowledge and really captures the nuances of the game.

Pillar is amazing. Wow it's incredible how often he makes those plays! He's like Jim Edmonds (without the hitting ability).
