This discussion piqued my interest about Tkachuk. Here's another video focused on him and I'll admit he looks more skilled than I had given him credit for (although I think that is worth pointing out that nobody is saying he isn't a good player).
This is a pretty good video as it shows more than just points. There is a lot of footage of him battling down low and going to the net.

Fitzpatrick looked really good. One bad rebound the entire game that I saw. Only goal that beat him was a tip in. Wouldn't be disappointed if we took him in the 2nd.
Puljujarvi was absolutely dominant on the power play. A threat with both his one timer and his passing. Controls the puck well with his huge frame. However Fabbro and Chychrun did keep him contained for the most part at 5 on 5.
Chychrun still has the occasional poor decision or poor read. Fabbro has shown better decision making but doesn't quite have the size and skating that Chychrun has. Such crisp passing with Fabbro, he's really impressed me. I wonder if he could go as high as top 10. Certainly will go top 20 IMO.
Jost is Canada's best forward and its not even close. Excels all over the ice. I'd take him over McLeod based on this tourney.
McLeod was meh again. A nice screen, he had a nice set up too. Great speed without the puck but slows down the play with the puck. Turned it over a few times on the power play. Looks like a 3rd line centre at the NHL level based on what I've seen this tournament. He makes maybe 1 nice pass a game, haven't seen anything really creative out of him. Doesn't seem to have the strength to win board battles and stay on his feet at this point. I'm sure he'll add the strength but I'm not sold at all on his offence.
Kyrou accelerates with the puck on his stick. He's shown flashes of good offensive ability. Wouldn't mind him in the 2nd.
Howden has outclassed McLeod as well at centre. Shows more offence. Wouldn't mind him in the 2nd either.
Logan Stanley continues to impress. Wouldn't surprise me if a team grabbed him in the teens. I'd be ecstatic to land him. Big, strong, physical, mobile defenseman who has puck skills as well. 6'7 now, he's going to be a monster.
Laberge has been really inconsistent, hasn't impressed me enough to want him.
Am I missing anyone?

I kind of liked the more thoughtful approach Puljujärvi had in the game, setting up a lot of shots, but he was skating noticeably less than I'm used to seeing.

Yeah, from what I remember of him, he's skating all over the place trying to do things himself. Here he was using his teammates rather than taking the shot.

Lots of games for him this season, plus long trip from Finland. Might have been feeling that.

I think I heard that puljujarvi is injured. From what I've seen and heard, I would be happy with Jost. A complete, smart centreman comparable to Bergeron? Yes please.
Oh man, all those secondary assists! Seriously though, Nylander looks amazing. Killer snipe on the goal, the Brodie esque long accurate stretch pass from his own goal line for a breakaway goal. Yup. I'd love to see him be the salt to Bennett's vinegar on the 2nd line.

Could definitely see them working some magic together. Obviously I'd like to see Flames add some more size and grit but that combination of pure skill you can't help but think could be very effective together.
Looks like Canada plays Switzerland in the Quarterfinals on Thurs at 2:45 pm. Easy matchup. They've been outscored 7 to 18 for -11 goal differential. Canada was 19 goals for, 5 against for +14
Another chance to see Chychrun, Jost, Fabbro, McLeod, Stanley, Howden, Kyrou, etc.
Canada and US are the favourites with Sweden and Finland in that second tier.
Looking at the schedule do Latvia and Denmark really play a best of 3 to decide who is relegated?

Yeah, should be easy but the Swiss are known for going into a defensive shell from the opening faceoff and depending on luck to eke out a win. I never count these games as a win until they are over.
On the other hand we'll probably play the Swedes after the Swiss.
