Must wins? We're out of the playoffs. There are no must wins.

If that Vancouver game is the one that decides the Nucks playoff fate than I respectfully disagree

Yeah, the 8-1 kicking we gave the Oilers was the last game that mattered to me. I could care less if Vancouver beats us, they're done anyway.

So you'd rather our draft position was hurt in order to hurt the Oilers draft position? Doesn't it make more sense to hope our draft position improves? Hurting the Oilers doesn't seem as important as helping the Flames, at least to me. But w/e, fans can cheer for w/e they want.

I'm definitely only concerned about what helps the Flames. Could care less about the Oilers or Canucks at this point.

Well, the way I see it: If Florida end up ahead of Edmonton they'll likely take Ekblad, which will cause the Oilers to take Draisaitl instead. Assuming we finish 4th and don't get bumped down, this means that we'll end up with Bennett who I'm the highest on. However if Edmonton remains 2nd overall and take Ekblad, Florida will probably run at Bennett instead and leave Draisaitl on the table.

However if we're winning games against the Leafs, Canucks, and Panthers at minimum then there's a good chance we end up with the 5th pick (or 6th after the lottery may bump us down one.)
Shouldn't be any talk of landing one of the top 4 guys unless NYI passes us and they probably won't if we finish out the season strong. And even if we end up with the 4th pick there's a chance we still get bumped down due to the draft lottery.
As sureLoss has posted, we still are most likely to end up with the 5th pick. I know some fans hate the idea but at this point in the season I'm hoping the Flames do worse than the Isles.

My prediction:
Before lottery:
Buffalo
Florida
Edmonton
Calgary
NY
After:
Florida
Buffalo
Edmonton
Calgary
NY
Florida - Ekblad (Their fans seem highest on him, already have good forward prospects)
Buffalo - Reinhart (Best forward available, can have him play centre or right wing)
Edmonton - Draisaitl (Miss out on Ekblad, but get the other guy they're high on,#2 C)
Flames - Bennett (Fans will love his speed, Burke will love his truculence)
NY - Dal Colle (Isle fans would love to see him on Tavares' wing)
Everyone wins and Oilers don't ruin Ekblad

Current top 10 for north american skaters. I wouldn't say no to Dal Colle and I like that Reinhart is in our area to select. You gotta know the Islanders take him at 4th overall though just like they did his brother Griffin so I hope we can swap with NYI.
|
If we could drop to 4th overall pick and Reinhart was there... I would freakin happy.

MUCH rather see Ekblad go to Florida than Edmonton.
Hope the Panthers either drop below the Oilers in the standings or take the lottery (if we don't).

ISS had them ranked
1. Ekblad (Buf)
2. Reinhart (Fla)
3. Bennett (Edm)
4. Dal Colle (Cgy)
5. Nylander (NYI)
I would love Reinhart, but wouldn't be too upset if this is how it went down.

agreed. it doesnt really matter where the oilers draft, they will ruin whoever they pick.

Dal Colle makes me nervous. Rumblings of compete level point to the kind of player that's not going to fit our culture.
