I think the statue should be put in the plaza a number of days proportional to the # of things they achieved with respect to their stated goals.

If he's willing to rent space in the Plaza and cover the transportation then go nuts.

I think that the statue would make a great artificial reef at the bottom of the Bow

Kind of looks like a major hazard to the $19.99 3 man Canadian Tire raft.

Hopefully by placing the statue in a storage warehouse they actually mean waiting until 4:45 on a Friday afternoon and carting it over to Calgary Metal to get some scrap steel money for the weekend.

Besides, we could make practical use of it. Flip it over and use it as a bit to drill for oil.

I think we need to hold it in reserve until an asteroid threaten's to strike the earth and we need to send a drilling crew up to place explosives deep into the Asteroid.
The last time that happened we snapped 3 out of the 4 drill bits and we were fortunate that the fourth one didn't snap. There looked like plenty of room in the cargo bay, plus a drill bit named Heart of a Beast would be ultimate

It is subtle, but constant reminder for me of the distrust that our local protesters have. And they have distrust of people that I think do a very good job. In the case of this thread, it is the distrust of CP moderators. I do not participate in too many forums, but I have not seen a moderation group that does as good of a job as those here. And yet they are just another group that the Occupy YYC folks believe will try to oppress them.

I don't have a problem with the Time's Protestors as man of the year, this has been a year of unusual rising up by the people.
I can agree if the Protestors were exclusively the Arab Spring Protestors who toppled some fairly heinous governments and change the middle east and continue to fight and die for the right of Self Determination.
I don't have much respect for the protestors in Greece and Spain and other nations where the protestors are protesting neccessary austerity programs. Their protests to me really highlight the entitlement generation, and screw the next generation as long as I don't have to pay my taxes and can retire at 50.
I have problems with the later forms of the OWS protests where it was effectively highjacked by the whiney groups.
I wish that the man of the year would have simply been the Arab Spring protestors, there is nothing that you can't salute and recognize with them.

so now that the tent city has been dismantled by the city, are these folks still living in their crucible or did they go back to thier parents basements where the internet and electricity are granted by the charter of rights (or someone else paying the bill on a monthly basis)
Statement from the People
For almost two months, we have been a living crucible where every imaginable emotion, endeavour, and dream of humanity has been confronted and thrust upon us, every day. A crucible where the clamour for dignity, justice and freedom for humanity has confronted the united by a common desire for a nobler humanity and with the desire to craft a map on which all the people of Earth could plot an inspired trajectory for humankind. As community, we are united by the internalization of the struggles of all people, from the indignity of the debt-bondage of our neighbours and nations to the ongoing, slow motion genocides of the indigenous people of our World.

Whenever I look at that statement I'm reminded of the drunken ######bag college student in love with his voice and using grandious language, and ridiculous word selections to try to pick up a semi intelligent cheerleader.

i was thinking that statement was just a little pretentious.......and i was thinking of that damon wayans character from in living color that would string large words together that made no sense......"let me once again to you the ubiquity that is place within the fallopian tubes".....
i am going home where the emotion of picking up my kids from day care will give way to the endevour of cooking dinner and other stuff will be thrust upon me. Late this evening I'll craft a map to my couch and watch 24/7......

Meanwhile Paul Hughes has 30 members of the Occupy Princess Island Park staying at his house.
http://www.metronews.ca/calgary/loca...o-hughes-house
I guess my only problem is that he's charging them $10 dollars each a day which is about $3000.00 per month and receiving food donations. He's bringing in $3000.00 per month.
He should be able to cover his mortgage and water and power bill and make a tidy profit.
Call me cynical.

Both of you are wrong as there is only 15 people living at his house. But still a nice way to get his bills paid for
