The NEP is the best thing that's ever happened to the UCP of Alberta. It gave them their boogeyman to blame everything on when #### goes south. Whether they contributed to the problems or not.

They're out there and making statements but with the shrinking of media, the ANDP are finding it difficult to grab the media's attention.

Everything can still be true, it's not that everything is false.
The Trudeau Liberals were not exactly friendly to the energy sector in Canada (mostly AB obv) Untold billions in national wealth has been squandered. Some people may be able to make a case for a trillion dollars. Large international firms have effectively abandoned Alberta and Canada, how much that was the energy crash of 2015/ Liberals/ Conservative politics etc is up for debate but it's not like the big dogs in the energy sector went out of business, they just aren't in Canada to the same degree.
The Biden administration, Democrats and Republicans have effectively worked closely to allow states that thrive on energy production to also become hot beds of clean energy production. Dollars flowed significantly to states like Texas cause that is where a lot of technical knowhow is. Where did tens of billions of dollars in clean energy subsidies go in Canada? To foreign firms for a shocking low amount of jobs and job protection for things like a battery plant for 3000 jobs.
The feds did buy and built a pipeline, after an insane amount of roadblocks put in place to private industry (Kinder Morgan) and other pipeline related companies. That was the deal with Premier Notley, AB would get a pipeline to the west coast, AB would implement a carbon tax and the Liberals would be able to sacrifice a few westcoast seats as opposed to Energy East.
The fact that Transmountain cost probably close to $40+billion when it had a budget of $4.5 is not a good look for anybody. Nobody should be bragging about that.
Canada is an energy nation but we have no policy in place on having a national energy conversation or framework. It's beyond absurd and shows you just how stupid of a nation we really are. With the madman in Washington, Canada needs to make sure our energy security is a priority, we have the ability to heat our own homes and power our own economy and we need to look at other markets. There is no BS this time and that goes for whomever is elected in April. Serious nations have serious policies in place for a country. Here we pat ourselves on the back for allowing some booze to flow down the street.
Job well done leaders!

Everyone should be tried for treason these days. Right wingers it’s Trudeau and boisenault and guillibault and Ford. Other side it’s Saskie guy and Marlaina. Every generation is a boring as the last but thinks they are different.

This would be the perfect moment for a few more ministers to step down from their roles and express a lack of confidence in her leadership, just like the minister of transportation did. Right now is the political moment to strike - her leadership might not actually survive this one.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees released summaries of the nine settled and ratified agreements in the education support workers’ strike.
https://alberta.cupe.ca/2025/03/21/c...n-settlements/
good job by the union.
sure beats the .75% per year the UCP was pushing to give.
for example:
CUPE 40 (Calgary Board of Education)
Term: 2024-2028
Sept 1, 2024 3%
Sept 1, 2025 $1.25/hr or 3% (whichever is higher)
Sept 1, 2026 3%
Sept 1, 2027 $1.25/hr or 3% (whichever is higher)
Dollar range improvement – $3.65-$4.97
Percentage range improvement – 12.55%-17.81%

From Reddit:
This is election interference.
Here's the link for Canadians who wish to lodge a complaint with Elections Canada
https://www.cef-cce.ca/complaint-form
Some more guidance for those wishing to report. Her comments in the article fall under "cooperating with or inciting foreign powers to interfere", which is still foreign interference.
To report:
- Under "When Should I Complain?" Select Foreign Interference
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Online Form (purple button)
- Read the privacy notice, select your response
- Under "Why are you contacting us today?" Select ** "to report a potential contravention" **
- Under "Subject of your complaint" select Foreign Interference and then select Undue Influence by foreigners
- Fill out the form with whatever information you choose to disclose
Example Text:
As a Canadian citizen and engaged voter, I have significant concerns over Alberta Premier Danielle Smith's comments in her interview with Washington's Breitbart. Her comments around encouraging Trump to pause tariffs until after the Canadian federal election in order to give Poilievre a better chance of winning are inciting foreign powers to interfere with our sovereign democratic process. I am extremely concerned about this influencing the outcome of the election and demand an immediate, thorough and transparent investigation.

I also tagged onto my complaint the BlueSky comment alleging that the CPC may have reached out to JD Vance asking him to get Dotard to apply his own sort of influence.

I would say several posters on CP have changed my opinion or knowledge on a subject - or at the very least, offered a well reasoned counter that helped understand the nuance of position or policy.
Knowledgeable and well-reasoned is a requirement, though.

Submitted just now, including a link to the original Breitbart article.
Now I feel I have to disinfect my computer. (Breitbart's slogan is 'More Breitbart. More Truth. More Fight' and follows that with complaints about a Democrat's reference to 'punching' in order to win elections in Texas.)
