Nylander is overrated, if the Flames do get him hopefully they don't overpay in trade or contract.

Nylander needs to be extended and that's going to start with at least a 6. We would have to send around 6M back in a trade unless the plan is to bridge him or Hanifin to stay under the cap.



Toronto also needs D now, not prospects. If it did somehow happen I could see Hamonic being part of the deal along with a young cost controlled forward like Bennett or Jankowski. Doubt it happens though, we aren't the best trade partner in this case.

There's reasons to not acquire Nylander but they'd be associated with price to acquire and price to sign not "we have a goal scorer already".

Just because the leafs need defense and the flames might be interested in nylander, doesnt mean the two have to be done at the same time

Leafs really need RHD as well, they have reilly, gardiner, and if gardiner leaves they think dermott can be top 4 guy as quickly as this year.
