One bad pitch and it got smoked.

Let's see if the Jays can get it back. Vlad absolutely needs to do something this game.

Damn. A very winnable game. Jays left sooo many baserunners on.

Bellinger won that game for the Yanks.

Ugggghhh. Streak is over.

Awesome rally, too bad about Hoffman giving it away in the 9th. Oh well, start another streak tomorrow.

Terrible AB by Kirk.

We really need to find out how to hit the long ball again. We’re struggling out there.

Bo and Kirk were pretty bad all night. Vladdy with three dinky singles. Just left too many guys. Too bad, that was winnable and would’ve just crushed the Yankees spirits.

Yankees only had 3 hits over their last 26 outs. Problem is 2 of them were homers.

Goes back to the idea that you need power to win in the playoffs. When facing the best pitchers, it's hard to string together 3 hits, or two walks and a hit to get runs.

Jays do have some power, but adding at least one more power bat would help them for when the games get more intense. Varsho getting healthy helps as you'd have him, Vladdy, Bo, Springer, and Barger as guys who can hit 20. Kirk isn't being replaced, but maybe one more OF or 3B bat with more power would help. I kind of write off Santander myself...but at most I think you can have 2 guys like Luke's and Clement plus Kirk in a playoff lineup.

I mean, stringing together hits still works in the postseason, you just have to do it against the best pitchers from the best teams.

There was an interesting graphic during the broadcast yesterday - team average against hard pitching (97mph+ or something like that). The jays were like 40 points higher than the next team and only 5 teams were within 80 points of the jays.

I agree they probably need 1 more power bat, but I'm hoping it can be Santandar because I'd rather spend the prospect capital on pitching.

Yeah Santander was supposed to be that guy (and Vladdy too).

He was 8th in the MLB in Home Runs with 72 across the 2023 and 2024 seasons. So he's about as good a bet as you can get on a guy that has power.

(Ohtani, Judge, Schwarber, Olson, Alonso, Ozuna, Soto, Santander, Rooker, Alvarez were the top 10)

I think they'll add a couple leverage arms and that's it. The team spends a lot of money but they're not gonna spend stupid money on redundancies.

Santander will be the power bat addition when he's ready, and with less pressure hopefully finds his stroke again soon. Unless he's done for the season they won't just cast him aside because he struggled in a new situation.

We have 5 starters all pitching well, plus Manoah on his way back and maybe Francis. Only 4 of them will start in the playoffs so I don't think they'll add there either.

Let's get Duran from Minny and Bednar from Pittsburgh and call it a day.

I don't like this trend of Vladdy watching 96 right down the middle for strike 1 every AB.

I completely agree. Pitchers are getting a free strike nearly every time because they know he isn’t swinging.

They're apparently interested in Mitch Keller.
