The true judge of character is how someone treats an animal, not the other way around. Dogs lose their minds for a million reasons, for all I know he could be telling me I have cancer. Or maybe they can just smell that I love cats far more than dogs, and that pisses them off.

Whenever I meet a golden retriever they insist on playing with and wrestling with me. In these situations the worry is them drooling and shedding on me. It can be cute for 5 minutes, but after a half an hour, I'm ready to move on.

Until one day the pitbulls lying on your crotch decides to take a bite and won't let go,.

Dogs don't just "hate" people, they can however sense from their owner's emotions and reactions if they are nervous or uncomfortable around certain people and try to protect them, dogs also have a crazy sense of smell and can detect changes in body odor that occur when someone is experiencing negative emotions.
Moral of the story, you and your step sister hate each other

There wasn't much time for olfactory analysis, I opened the door, they saw me from a distance and came charging and barking. Step sister wasn't even there to protect! Point is "perfect dogs" can still be unpredictable demons.

A person from Airdrie was taken to hospital Monday afternoon after being attacked while walking their dog.
“A resident was walking their small dog when the dog was attacked by four large dogs. The owner of the small dog attempted to intervene and sustained injuries,” RCMP said in a news release.
The victim was taken to hospital in unknown condition, and police said Airdrie municipal enforcement seized the four dogs. It was not immediately clear if the victim was a man or woman, or boy or girl.

Officials with the Town of Banff say a dog caught on camera biting a deer has been designated as a “vicious animal” under the town’s bylaw.

Well I guess we can strike "deer" off the best friend list. Don't see much of a leash there, but he's probably such a good boy he doesn't need one.

I dunno....probably a dog bred to bite onto a bull's neck in a fighting pit and not let go until the bull is dead....It's almost as if "Pit Bull" isn't just a clever name and is somehow linked to these dogs pedigree.
I do feel sorry for that dog. It's just doing what stupid humans bred it to do.

it has nothing to do with the breed, my wife has pulled hundreds of these quills out of many breeds of dogs over the years. lots of reasons to dislike pit bulls but this doesn’t prove the connection you’re implying.

Porcupines have a number of predators; lynx, coyotes, foxes, and fishers to name a few, but dogs are not on the list. Natural predators know how to flip them over and go for the unprotected belly.

Looks more like a Pit Bull to me. Not seeing any flappy lips, and the muzzle looks way too long to be a boxer.
And I definitely think the breed of dog would influence how aggressively the dog went after the porcupines.

Fair man, I’m gonna go with my my wife’s opinion on it with her first hand dealings and education in this field. To each their own though. A quick google would show examples of all sorts of dogs getting quilled. Pit Bulls also aren’t a recognized breed, it’s more of a catch all name for the type of dog people associate by look. That’s why these accusations tend to be wildly inaccurate.
It all boils down to prey drive in the animal, my reserve mutt has snapped a metal clasp on her leash trying to catch a squirrel. A long since dead chihuahua once got a hold of an injured bird in our yard. That’s a pretty tough argument to quantify.

Good thing she didn't have a baby rather than a cat.
https://www.ctvnews.ca/calgary/artic...outheast-home/
A Calgary woman is calling for change after an unleashed dog attacked her dog and killed her cat in the southeast community of Rangeview.
Laura Lang, 31, had her dog outside when an unleashed and uncollared dog crossed the road and attacked.
She tried to get her pet into her basement suite to safety, but she wasn’t able to stop the other dog from getting inside.
“He pushed his way through, and I held on to his scruff as much as I could and it just wasn’t enough and he ran downstairs.”
In the basement, the dog started to attack her one-year-old cat, Sushi.
“I quickly ran upstairs and yelled, ‘Someone help me, please, someone help me’ and then I ran back downstairs, and I found my cat dead on the floor in a pool of blood. She was completely mutilated,” she said.
“The dog remained in my house for about 40 minutes until animal control could get here and I could hear him dragging around my dead cat,” she said.
“It’s horrifying to sit in a room and know I couldn’t do anything about it. That was terrifying.”
The City of Calgary confirms Community Safety is investigating the attack involving a Mastiff-type dog.
A man has been charged under the Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw with “animal causing death to another animal” and “animal running at large.”

That happened to me once, fortunately I was between the dog and my cat who was leashed, in my front yard. You know, like wild animals should be. I gave that ####ing cow a ####ing what-for, despite her saying it's a good dog and is only required to be in control through voice, not a leash. It was neither a good dog or in control I think it was a boxer or something. How the #### do you own a dog in this city and not know it's required to be leashed somewhere as obvious as a neighbourhood street nowhere near a dog park?
Fortunately I've never seen her again. I hope that ####ing dog ate her.

He's already got the dog back!
The City returned it because there was no prior history. I'm sorry, but if your dog goes into someone else's home and kills the pet living there, you don't get it back.
I'm not in favour of breed bans, but I am in favour of harsh consequences for any owners whose dogs do such things.
