I dunno. Birmingham City on Sunday. Who's excited for the debut of Paul Konchesky??

So, no. None.

Rumour right now is that the basterds are trying to re-finance so they dont have to sell. Current word is that the board and RBS laughed in their faces.

Everything points to the rest of the board saying they would not allow such a thing. My concern would be that if they were to both wait it out, the board could buckle before October 6th. Then the options seem to be

A. The board buckles, they re-finance, and this drags on. If this happens, I would seriously be worried about my safety if I were any of those 2 clowns.

B. Liverpool becomes owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland, which unless I'm off, means we're bankrupt, and we'll have points taken away. If this happened, I think even those 2 morons would know that they need to live in an armoured house for the rest of their lives.

Paul Konchesky is a great player, made his debut at age fifteen. I'd much rather have him over bums like Dossena, Insua, or Agger. Carragher needs to retire already, our best CB pairing is Agger and Skrtel. Carragher is slow, lazy, and living off his reputation. I love how Liverpool supporters feel that Konchesky is beneath them. We'll be lucky to finish in the top eight, never mind the top four this season! These two American owners are destroying the club.

We need a new owner to step in with the money to build a new stadium, or things are going to get much, much worse. Think Leeds!

Nice to have you back. I much preferred your Razor Ruddock nic though. Still, Ginola is better than your "Special One" nic and your Dagger nic was much too similar to mine for comfort.

Anyway, on topic. I'm fine with Konchesky. Decent enough player and likely the only type we can get now in the circumstances.

Carragher still has something to offer. Yes, he's slow but he's positionally sound and is a great leader. He deserves greater respect than you're giving him. I would agree that I prefer the Agger/Skrtel pairing however.

I would also completely agree that the current owners are destroying this club.

Nice, one post and you caught on, impressive. Ginola of course played for Newcastle, not Liverpool, but he was still a great player! I remember him rounding Neil Ruddock, John Scales, and Phil Babb plenty of times in the mid nineties.

I'm glad that you agree with me about the owners though. Konchesky is a solid, solid left back who knows Hodgson's system well and should fit right in. I'm much rather have him, a full back who defends, than Glen Johnson, who is brilliant going forward but severely lacking in defensive ability.

considering you called me a twat, its surprising that i actually agree with this post completely. I love Carra as much as anyone, but hes lost too much. no one can question his heart, but hes slow, gets caught out of position and makes too many mistakes, which he blames on other players for my liking. I actually don't mind the Konchesky signing, and Skrtel is the man, hes so solid.

as for the owners, they are destroying liverpool. we needs funds to compete, and this mess has gone on long enough. i hate reading the news from the premier league everyday and seeing a negative story about liverpool

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with just getting old. Even Jarome Iginla, one of the fittest athletes I've ever seen, i going to be a fat guy who can't make it up the stairs. Carragher needs to move on. Having said that, he's not our biggest problem.

We need width. By this I mean we need attacking wingers who our central midfielders can spray the ball wide to. I'd love it if we had someone like Ashley Young or Aaron Lennon. Save for Babel, who never seems to get an extended run in the team, we don't have anyone with enough pace to beat full backs week in and week out. I love Kuyt but he's not a winger, stick him up front to support Torres and don't ask him to drift out to the right wing.

Even further, we need someone who can do it on the left.

Joe Cole can play on either wing and he brings quite a bit of pace to the table, maybe we shouldn't judge Hodgson until Cole is available for every match again.

Nil all draw today away to Birmingham. Again, a serious lack of width. There is no reason to be playing with TWO holding midfielders against the likes of Birmingham. Gerrard should be playing in central midfield, instead of up front with Torres. I would have dropped Lucas in favour of Ngog.

Boring game. Liverpool were lucky not to be down after teh first half. Konchesky played really well, Torres did not and why can no one on the team make a pass.

Roy is going for it! Granted, with a pretty weak team, but the formation might hold some promise.

Reina

Konchesky
Kyrgiakos
Agger
Kelly

Spearing
Maxi
Meireles
Cole

Babel
Ngog

Liverpool have refuted claims that they have sought advance funding from the Premier League from TV revenues and sponsorship payments as their financial situation is starting to alarm fiscal experts.

With Gillett's finances in a parlous state, and with the possibility that he might default on other loans and ultimately lose his 50% stake in Liverpool, his partner Hicks is now attempting to refinance alone and gain total control - sending alarm bells through Anfield.

Sources have told ESPNsoccernet that there are strong rumours that Hicks has launched a new bid to retain control by looking to secure another refinancing deal as Gillett attempts to avoid defaulting on a $75 million loan.
The board is fiercely opposed to any attempts at refinancing by the Americans, having successfully warded off such a threat in June. Liverpool fear the worst case scenario would be further loans and debts and higher interest repayments.

When Hicks and Gillett tried to find a £290 million 'mortgage' using the stadium and players as assets, the board threw it out and took legal advice to ensure they were within their rights to do so.
With the October 6 deadline rapidly drawing so close, Hicks and Gillett stand to lose their stranglehold on Liverpool, with RBS handing it over to their Recovery Unit to sell as a distressed asset. Even then there is no guarantee of a buyer, as any new owner has to invest £400 million in a new stadium.
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/st...ngland&cc=5901

Ladies and Gentelmen, boys and girls, children of all ages, what we have here is a classic example of why the Leveraged Buy Out (LBO) died as a form of corporate takeover in the late 80s to early 90s. It saddles the new company with an insane debtload that is usually teetering on the knife's edge from going over. All you need is a slight change in interest rates (which is going to happen, interest rates change all the time) to turn what was once affordable financing into a stranglehold.

H&G are just too goddamn stupid to have realized it and its going to cost them everything. You know they're desperate because this is basically their last asset, I wish the FA had moved faster in booting them out so they could make this stupid last stand for the Texas Rangers or the Dallas Stars rather than Liverpool.

Yanks, GTFO.

^^It just sickens me reading anything about these two *gentlemen* [insert your own preferred phrase] anymore and what they have done to our club.

David Moore's really should be ashamed of himself for selling the club to such parasites. You have to think that any due diligence on his part could have prevented this absolute steaming mess. He says that they looked into Gillette's affairs in detail but they took Hicks on trust, on good ol' George's say so. WTF? This wasn't a garage sale, Dave. Liverpool FC are an instituation throughout the world that deserved much more respect than that. I'm completely sickened by the whole thing.

Scary crap. Hopefully Hicks isn't able to do a damn thing.

Anyways, bright and early start Sunday, anybody coming down to the pub for coffee, breakfast, and footy?

fair enough. I've been so bad at making the games myself, that I may force myself to pull an allnighter anyways (hey, I did it before attending my last match at Anfield, and I was fine! :P).

That was so tough to watch. Tactically the manager went in with small team syndrome of not trying to lose at Old Trafford. Yeah, it's a tough place to get a result but a team with a supposed top 4 ambition does not play that way. Liverpool are not Fulham, Roy. Trouble is we are turning into a mid-table team at best it seems so perhaps that's unfair on Fulham.
At 2-2 we should have pushed on and perhaps earned a famous inspirational result. To sit back after Gerrards equalizer but not actually defend was ridiculous. The winner was a really poor goal to give up.
There were selection problems too. Poulsen is an older slower Lucas. The brazilian should have started. Ngog deserves a run with Torres. Agger, our best defender, has to start.

I hate losing to Man U! It should never be acceptable but it seems like our manager has accepted it. We are doomed to failure if we don't raise the bar.

Sorry, just P.O.ed right now.
