I can't in good conscience use anything with the name Yahoo on it.
I guess I am an anti-yahoo fanboi.

What's the difference between apps and widgets?

A widget displays the content and allows interaction without opening the app.
For example, my Podcast widget displays the title of the podcast that is playing and allows me to set buttons (I have Play/Pause and Skip) so I can press them without opening the app.

Had an idea!

The stock messaging app on Jelly Bean is lean and fast. Handcent and GoSMS have lots of features but clog up my phone after a while.

Yeah the stock one is fine, I find those two alternatives way too bloated.

I switched to GoSMS for the sole reason that I was sick of staring at a bunch of blank contact picture thumbnails every time I opened the app.
Some of the UI in Android's stock apps just leaves me shaking my head and I've ended up replacing pretty much all of the main ones I use with 3rd party stuff.

I'm actually hate that too, but synching my contact list with various apps have gotten rid of most. The rest I've filled in myself.

Are you guys talking about Facebook pics not showing up in contacts, Google and FB contacts not syncing, etc? If so, give HaxSync a try. Fixed everything up for me.

The TSN app has such potential, if only it a) didn't require multiple restarts to open, and b) was updated to this years hockey season. Did TSN stop caring about its Android users?
Score was good with the notifications on favourite teams playing and goal scores, etc. I'll try the ESPN Scorecentre app next, since it looks a bit less football / NBA-centric as Score's app.

Loving Kii Keyboard. I purchased Swiftkey 3, but I really like Kii better. I love the fact I can make the keys bigger and include more spacing between keys. Plus the swype style action along with normal keyboard input allows me to type pretty damn fast. It's only in beta, but it's a winner already IMO.

Definitely appreciate little things like testing out the keyboard in settings. That needs to be a standard.

I use this app and everyone should definitely give it a go. Only $0.99 on the market.

I recently downloaded a CBS app called "SportCaster", which seems to be really good. I mostly use it as I really like the widgets, but it does have alerts and stuff too.

I will give that a shot. Sportscentre is pretty slow, and I dont want to start an account at ESPN just to get sports scores. I reverted back to TSN for the time being.

I really like the stock messaging app as well... sadly, I have to use handscent, solely because the stock app doesn't allow group messaging

Downloaded the update for the Score app. It went from a quick but ugly app, to a slow but pretty app.

I've used Kii a few times but I always find myself going back to swype beta. The latest release, 1.4 is pretty fast and works very well. I find Kii and Swiftkey Flow can lag every now and then especially when downloading.
New Score app sucks. Might try this Sportscaster others have mentioned.

SportCaster is working well. No real complaints. I would go back to the TSN app if they ever fix and update theirs, so I am a) not looking at laat years stats, b) doesn't need to be opened/closed/opened every time to run.
Some things I like about Sportscaster is the notification on games starting and goals for favourite teams, and the stats pages. Would be nice if it would start up on NHL page every time I opened it.
