OK, not Cowtown, but the money may have flowed through downtown:

4 people, including a Mountie, showing oil from British Petroleum's Limited well no. 3 (near Wainwright Alberta).

I think this one may be 'shopped.

And one around the Bearspaw Water Treatment plant, looking N NW, from only 1988.

Nothing else around, no Tuscany, Rocky Ridge...

that video was tremendous, even if it predated my arrival in Southern Alberta by about 10 years, alot of interesting memories

having watched an episode of Mad Men set in 1962 last night just before watching this made it all the funnier

is that a young Cowperson in the role of Davey in the movie?

It baffles me that anyone would want to live in or visit Calgary upon watching that video.

I wish the Stampede still had Bozo the world's largest steer.

Leaving Calgary is like trying to leave a gay party. . .

Awesome! They have the Hays breakfast featured in that video. My family has been putting it on for some 70ish years now, and I've been volunteering to help set it up since I was kid. Well at least until it ended last year, sad day.

Obviously they spent some time at Chicken on the Way.

Many thanks for the video, Reggie. 1962 was the year we arrived in Calgary, and it sure brings back a lot of memories. In fact, I recall watching Roy Rogers and Dale Evans as parade marshals that summer. I believe their museum has closed down, and they are presently auctioning off all their memorabilia.

I recall the Hays farm being the south edge of town. Harry's annual Stampede Breakfast was quite an event. What was the name of that famous drink he used to serve?

The city had a much different ambiance in those day. It was much smaller (about 250,000 population), very little traffic, seemed friendlier, and generally considered a cowtown by easterners.

That was very cool Reg.

Not only does it highlight a lot of the neat old stuff, I got a real kick out of how the old school family dynamic was portrayed. And you have to admit, it really makes smoking look cool.
