Interesting. Maybe this is just for certain dates, because I still haven't received this email. May I ask what dates you are leaving?
Plus, I've already had my flight change once. Is this the first time your flight has been changed?

Just called on behalf of one of my friends, who was booked through Travelocity.
After Travelocity put me on hold to call Span Air, the woman came back and said I had the option depart one day earlier (Sep 20) or one day later. Same itinerary as before.
I chose the one day earlier option. Comes back the same day.
Wasn't offered anything regarding Frankfurt.

It may have something to do with the departure dates. My friend and I got the same email from Travelocity today. We fly out from Menorca on the 21st. The rep said that our flights on the 21st are no longer confirmed (they bumped up the departure time once already on the return flight last month).
Unfortunately neither of us were able to get more information than that from travelocity at this time. They needed to call Spanair, but their offices in Spain were closed. I didn't get the option to leave earlier or later or connect through Frankfurt.
I guess we'll see what happens tomorrow.

Really, wow. I spent 3 nights in Ibiza last week and we spent about €140-150 altogether (having booked well in advance). It wasn't deluxe by any stretch of the imagination (no tv) but it was fine since we didn't plan on spending much time in the room.
When booking keep in mind that in Spain hostals have a different meaning; they are more like 2- or 3-star hotels rather than backpackers' dorms.

Yeah, but a 2 or 3 star still pretty much means you're sharing a toilet and shower with 15 other people. No thanks, did that in my early 20's in Europe, I'll keep looking for other deals. Thanks for the link, FFR.

The hostal I stayed in last week in Ibiza had a bathroom for just our room. The room was fine, had a balcony too. Just no tv or phone but that was fine for us.
It really is just a cheap hotel, not any sort of sharing arrangement.

Where did most people book hotels from, I am just having a hell of a time actually getting any good deals when it comes to hotels on the usual websites like expedia.ca and the like, which could also be a sign that I am functionally ######ed at the internet.

So... I've been reading trip advisor a little bit about hotels. Is everyone else's impression that Menorca island is essentially just offering a Mexico-type (resort, hot weather, not much to do except laze around) vacation, or am I way off base?
I ask because we're now on the fence about going or not. I just don't know if it'll be worth 20+ hours of flying each way with a 2 month old for a resort vacation.
I'm definitely open to people talking me out of bailing on this trip, if you have any opinions to offer!!

There are a lot of resorts in Menorca - this seems to be the majority on the island. That said, we found a non-resort hotel (Hotel Agamemnon) to stay in and base ourselves out of. So far in my research I've found a gin distillery (YAY!) a vineyard (YAY!) a cheese making place (YAY!), plus a few forts and some neat stone megoliths. Add in beaches, hiking, touring the towns and I think we'll be fine for our 5 days. That said, we're not hauling around a kid, so we have a bit more flexibility.

I've done a bit of research on Menorca because my husband and I are not "sit around and do nothing in a resort" kind of people. It seems that Menorca has a lot of natural places to explore. What I mean is tons of hikes, waterfalls, beaches etc. There are also stone monument things all over the island. There is apparently some decent architecture (i.e. chruches and festival plazas)in the towns as well. There are harbours to visit as well as a distillery with tours, an aquarium, national musem, the cheese factories.
I think that there is a lot to do and see if you're intersted in that kind of stuff I guess. According to my friend, who lives in Barcelona, there is some decent shopping - small boutique type shops in Mahon and Ciudedella.
As for hotels, we have booked eveything and we booked it all through expedia. We are staying in two different hotels on Menorca and one in Barcelona. We weren't looking for anything special because it's just a place to sleep but they all look ok and have decent reviews on tripadvisor.
1st night - Alayor, Menorca: http://www.expedia.ca/pub/agent.dll?...4637131&from=i
6 nights in Barcelona: http://www.expedia.ca/pub/agent.dll?...4652433&from=i
2 nights in Cuidadella: http://www.expedia.ca/pub/agent.dll?...6162807&from=i

We decided to splurge on Grupotel Club Turquesa Mar. Its all inclusive 4 star so I'm hoping for the best for 6 nights looking around 2000 ish cad. Trip should cost about the same as a trip to mexico.

Hey guys... just a quick FYI if for some reason you can't use the flights you booked - SpanAir is providing 100% refunds since the posted fare was an error. Travelocity tried to tell us otherwise, so we ended up phoning SpanAir directly and got better results.

What do you mean? They will refund the full amount if you cancel? What did you say to Spanair to get them to do that? More details pretty please...
