Why did you bother posting in this thread?
Did you think someone interested in the thread would suddenly be convinced by you and say, "IliketoPuck is right, I'm wasting my time!"?
Or does it make you feel superior to come into a thread and crap on someone else's hobby?
I'm guessing most people who read your quote are probably pretty pleased you don't play anymore, it means they don't need to deal with you.

Every 4-5 months, just as you got all the gear you could in arena/raiding, they come out with new content and a new tier of gear and the grind starts all over again. It was honestly a never ending circle. And the nature of the game is that you can't just pick it up and play a couple of matchmaking games, then go to bed.
You have to be able to sit down and clean your schedule for a good 4-5 hours if you want to get raiding/arena done. Even then, getting your gear is not gauranteed due to different loot methods, and the fact that you could spend 4 hours getting to the boss that drops your piece of gear, it doesn't drop, and now you have to come back next week for the same thing, then it drops next week and the guy who is infinitely worse than you at WoW wins the roll and continues doing 2 k dps. Fun.
|
My guild raids half the time you did (3-4 raids per week, 3hrs max per raid), but we still get a lot done (we've completed Champion of the Ulduar Raider and most other hard modes).
If you think the sole purpose of raiding is to get good gear, then I can understand why you didn't enjoy the endless grind and gear obsolescence with each new dungeon that's released. I, on the other hand, enjoy raiding for the challenge of beating difficult content, the teamwork required to do so, and the jokes and camaraderie amongst my guildmates. Getting gear upgrades is the tool that allows us to progress to new content, not the end-goal itself.

Tbh bobblehead I played heroic hours of WoW for the better part of two years. I reached gladiator in the first 4 seasons of arena, so it kind of goes without saying that the effort the I put in was mostly directed at obtaining gear.
I'm not belittling anyone who plays WoW, that would be a little bit hypocritical of me don't you think? I was just saying that I don't play it anymore because I realized that 1-2 months after I got my full arena / raiding set I would have to put in the massive hours again in order to get the next tier of gear. I've met lots of awesome people on WoW, and still talk to them even though I don't play the game anymore.
I think you misinterpreted what I was saying, WoW is a great game, and used to be a big hobby for me. But based on your response I can tell you are probably a Horde UD Rogue the facerolliest of all facerolling classes
Cheers.

I guess the guild I was in was a bit less fun, and realyl cliquey...If you weren't in with the GM you basically got passed over for loot...which definitely jaded me a bit.

Well, it wasn't as bad as I expected. While my guild is still behind, the server I am on did a lot better than I expected.
Apparently the drop off in difficulty between Festergut and Rotface in 25 man is huge. So, although bliz says Festergut is first, most people are going to Rotface.
Ten man was a different story. My group went in last night and we just rolled Fester and then smacked our head into a wall on Rotface since coordination at 5 am isn't easy.
Going over Tankspot and a few other places, it looks like 25 man Festergut is going to see a nerf a lot sooner than most would like. Festergut is supposed to be doable in full Ulduar 25 gear and badge loot equivalent to it, but you'll find a lot of ranged in ToC 25 gear that will be hardpressed to pull 7.5k sustained for 5 - 7 minutes while moving to make sure they have inoculated.
Another thing is while ranged was slightly preferred through most of the first wing, the second wing favors melee to such a point that you'd almost be better off going all melee.
edit - One final thing is, as a feral tank, it is nice to see a fight that really favours us over other tanks. I can't remember a single fight in recent history that there was no reason to use anything other than a feral tank (You could make an argument for OS 3D, but even then a frost DK with high HP would be preferred because of the extra avoidance). The high hp/armor plus the DPS buff that is put on tanks makes it a no brainer to use two ferals if you have them.

Well I am really enjoying this game, I hit 80 the other day and the worst thing possible happened to me overnight. Account was hacked, I lost all my gear, all my items, a couple bags, all my gold I had 4K. Anyways so i secured my account and contacted a GM. While they are investigating and supposedly doing everything they can to restore my character, its been 2 days and my character has nothing. Anyone wanna guess why this is taking so long?

I wouldn't sweat it. I had my account hacked maybe a year ago and it took them a full week to restore my stuff. It happened to me early on a Saturday morning, so I couldn't even contact their customer service until the following Monday.
In the meantime, I recommend buying an authenticator:

It's worth the few dollars to guarantee that your account is almost hack-proof.
When you get your stuff back, it will all be in your mailbox with a 90 day expiry time.

It's definitely a PITA, but have faith in the Blizz crew getting your schwag back.
One thing that kind of sucks is you lose all of your enchants and gems. And if you were wearing and soulboul BoEs, they will become BoE once again.

So I discovered that my account was hacked a long time ago. I haven't played in a year and I thought I'd check my armory out. Well someone's been busy gearing my toon up lol. So I try to log into my account and I can't, there's an authenticator on it. I never used an authenticator. So I reset my email password the other day and emailed tech support.
I also discovered the toon was moved to another account.
They tell me I have to phone them to get my account back, but in the meantime they're transferring my toon back to my account. It is impossible to get a blizzard rep on the phone, so it might never happen. I'm just glad whoever hacked me has been hacked back and they lose the fruits of their labour gearing me up.

Find someone who wants to buy it, then sell it to that person?
Which is illegal under the Blizzard ToS so I'd probably keep it on the downlow and not talk about it here, yea?

Iliketopuck is allowed to dissent. Don't jump on him because he doesn't love the game anymore. The "i got my life back after WoW" is a pretty valid contribution...
One I can relate to, actually. Played balls to the wall WoW for years. I had a website in the official fansite program before the game was released, and was one of the first to invite the entire battleground to my guild's ventrillo.
What was the mass raid thing called? With like 40 people...We would get 35/40 on ventrillo and I would be screaming orders into the mic.
Then I taught my buddy how to do it and as Blizzard increased their emphasis on PvP the guild leader made him PvP officer.
I took a look a couple years ago and my former guild, Notorious (on Tichondrious), was one of the top PvP guilds with the top team sponsored by Team Pandemic. No idea where they're at now...speaking of WoW is like a whole other life...
I never sold my character (stupid). I had the full giantstalker (I think that's what it was, from err...Molten Core?) and dragonstalker (from the next one) sets. One of two on the server...
Edit: What's the deal with the authenticators anyway?

Just are a cryptographically secure way of making authentication more secure.. so instead of just logging in with something you know (your password), you have to have something you have, and something you know (the authenticator, and your password), just one by itself isn't enough.
So unless you lose the authenticator to the same person who cracked your password, your account is very secure.

but how does it work? you go to log in and it says "enter pin number displayed on authenticator" or something like that?
what if you lose it!? (or spill beer on it)
