Right now I see a UT vs. USC rematch. Well I think that would be the best game. Penn St. will lose in Columbus next week and 'Bama will lose somewhere along the way. SEC fans keep saying that UT hasn't played any good defenses and UT would be crushed by SEC's defensive teams. Fact is I don't think they would. I think UT's offense is better by light years than any SEC team has seen and I think their defense is good enough to get a few stops against the SEC's weaker offense. USC has no one on their schedule that can handle them unless they blow it again. And USC is looking better to me than I originally had thought they looked earlier in the year albeit against 2nd rate teams.

Nope I think that Tech and OK state are nowhere near the teams OU and Mizzou are even though OK St. beat Mizzou. The game that scares me is actually A&M, but it always does. With McCoy playing the way he is and Orakpo playing the way he is the have maybe the best QB in the nation right now and maybe the D-lineman in the country right now. The can get it done on both sides of the ball. Tech's defense is horrid and I just don't feel OK st. is completely legit. I guess we will see next weekend.

I think it's a little early to pencil teams in, especially teams that have to play conference championships. Texas may win out, they may not, who knows. Obviously if they do then they get a shot, but to me I'd take a 2 loss team in the SEC before a 1 loss team in the PAC10 every day of the week. The PAC10 is my favorite of all football, but SEC is the best college ball year in and year out. The polls are fixated on how many losses you have and doesn't pay much attention to sos, so your right USC may find their way in, but I think someone in the SEC deserves it.

It's early yes but I see that as the most likely outcome. USC lost early in the year so that's why they would get in instead of an SEC team who lost late. Strength of Schedule should be waited more but unfortunately it isn't.

Well I still see an average defense in Texas. They give up a LOT of points when faced with decent competition. That is, generally, what seperates teams this time of year.
you say you think Penn St. will lose to OSU next week...i really have my doubts because the PS defense is so similar to what USC does....and we saw how that worked for OSU earlier this year.
But who knows...will see what the BCS computers come up with when they come out later today...because they are all that really matter.

The only team that put up a lot of points on UT was OU. Mizzouri put up 17 and than put on a couple garbage TD's in the 4th against UT's 2nd and 3rd stringers. The scary thing with UT is that their defense gets better week in and week out. The secondary that starts 2 freshmen and a sophmore continues to improve. I don't think you will find a team in the country who could hold Mizzou to under 20.
It's also funny how you put OU and Mizzou as "decent" offenses when they are among the top 5 in the country.

Awfully defensive. really no need for it...Texas is #1 and deservedly so.
The fact is that Texas has the 39th ranked defense in the country...and that is playing a whole bunch of stiffs on top of the last 2 games.
http://web1.ncaa.org/mfb/natlRank.js...otdef&site=org
I still see Texas as the clear cut #1...until they drop a game which seems probable moreso than possible with this brutal stretch of games they have.

Interesting question brought up on another forum...
If Oregon State and USC both go undefeated in conference the rest of the year, OSU wins the Pac-10. Will that have an effect on USC's possible BCS Championship game berth?
In 2003 Oklahoma didn't win their conference, but got the berth over Pac-10 champ USC to play LSU. Last year, Georgia was downgraded due to not winning their division, let alone the SEC.
Obviously, there is a ton of football to be played, but food for thought.

some sweet matchups today. Texas tech/Kansas, Kentucky/Florida, Ok State/Texas, Penn State/Ohio State, Georgia/LSU.
Good Stuff.
This is the start of a brutal stretch for Texas tech, today vs#23 kansas, then #1 Texas, #6 Oklahoma State, and finally #4 Oklahoma. rough stretch for sure.

Wow...ya that is interesting and something i had not considered. the only thing is that Oregon has already lost 2 games and one of them they got whacked by Penn St. That will figure into the BCS computer thing too. And right now (IIRC) Arizona is actually ranked second in the Pac-10.
As you say... a LONG way to go. I dunno if OR St. wins out though....they have a tough game in Tuscon and then Oregon at Corvalis (in one of footballs most intense but unknown rivalries)... to go among others.
i am actually a bit aprehensive about USC in Tuscon today...they always seem to give Pete Carroll teams fits.

It's pretty ridiculous that ABC is pulling out the regional coverage this week. I don't see why people in Calgary would want to see two medicore PAC 10 teams rather than Texas and Oklahoma State.

that's funny, i'm sure what people in calgary would prefer to watch take priority over what people in the pac 10 region would want to watch .

Definite chinks in the Longhorns armor today as OK state ran all over them. Still think they can go undefeated. Kansas shouldn't be a problem. Next week Tech vs. UT will be huge.

Did I say that? Since when is Calgary in the Pac-10 region? We're four states/provinces from California.
It's pretty obvious that Canadians who watch college football generally cheer for the big programs, not Pac-10 teams. Simply because they're actually on national TV more often. So I really don't understand why ABC feels the need to extend their regional coverage into Canada where there's no conference allegiances to worry about.
