^^ I re-checked my sked, Portland doesn't come here 'til the 22nd. Man I feel for the whole organization, it's about as bad as the Blades from a few years ago.

Off to Chilliwack's Prospera Centre for the first time tomorrow night, Ice @ Bruins. Hope the traffic on Hwy. 1 isn't too bad..

Rockets @ Blazers on Shaw tomorrow night as well, 8:00 MT.

Speaking of the Blades, the WHL media guide has an epic typo for them.

They went 7-52-11-2 in 2003-04. According to this year's media guide, they now went 41-25-2-4 and finished second in the division that year. Talk about revisionist history.

Spokane and Calgary are ranked 1-2 in the CHL top ten this week. Tri-City and Vancouver are 5th and 6th respectively.

Just got home from the 'Wack, terrific game tonight between the Ice and Bruins, Kootenay won 4-3 in a shootout.

Classy move tonight by the Chilliwack organization as well, as they put a message on the scoreboard welcoming Ice forward Joe Antilla's family (from Madeira Park, BC) to the game. Guarantee the Giants won't do anything like that tomorrow.

EDIT: Prospera Centre is GORGEOUS too!

Gorgeous rink, reminds me a lot of the new RecPlex, even though I've only ever been inside during the summer. Love the open feel to the rink, and the crowd felt a lot more "down home" than over here or in some of the other 'Dub rinks I've been to.

I also heard that if and when Moose Jaw gets their new facility they will model it after Prospera.. The only part that sucked, though, was trying to get out of the parking lot across the street, but I was back on the North Shore 1:15 after the game ended, so definitely am gonna come out again when the Giants are out there.

As for the game itself, I thought we (Ice) really got tired in the third, and Lazaruk pretty much kept Chilliwack from winning in regulation. If some of the missed nets (on either side) could have been capitalized we could easily have seen a 7-6 game tonight too. Wasn't overly impressed with Negrin, and Maxwell is still trying to get back into form.. Jacquemet and Holden were the two players that I really noticed.

Very cool about your son too!

Any time a sad sack team like the Rebels beats a high flying team like the Hitmen, it's surely worth a mention! It was good to see that the Rebels are even bothered trying at this stage of a trying season. Finally the visiting hordes of Hitmen fans had little to shout about.

Yeah, I was already pissed at the Roughnecks effort last night... didn't want to comment on the Hitmen.

Face a team that many times, they are gonna get you eventually. Sucks for us, but good for the fans in the Nuclear Weapons Free zone.

Just got back from the Coliseum.. What a weekend for the Ice! A HUGE 3-1 win tonight over the Giants.

Even though Vancouver had 41 shots, they really didn't have as many great chances as one might imagine. Lazaruk saw a lot of shots all the way, and they got two PPG in the second to really open it up. I really thought they would be tired, having played last night in Chilliwack and Wed. in PG, but they had a lot more jump than the Bruins game.

^^ No relation, I've only lived out here for 8 years, before that I lived in Cran. for 15, and had seasons for the Ice the first couple years. It's really strange here though, the local papers seem to have overlooked him as he's progressed, but they always ran stories on guys like Ryan Gibbons and Yashar Farmanara.

He looked a lot better last night though, the team was way more physical as a whole.

Some of you guys may have seen it tonight on Sportsnet, but Brandon absolutely ROBBED the Giants of a win tonight..

Brayden Schenn scored the tying goal with 3 seconds left, after Giants defenseman Brent Regner's shot at an empty-net turned into a turnover, and then in overtime, Keith Aulie banked a pass off the back boards into the slot, and it went off a Giant stick and a Giant skate and past Sexsmith. Wheaties win 4-3. Calvert and Schenn looked good all night.

Ouch... Its more fun when the Flames do things like that than the Wheat Kings, eh?

Hitmen rediscovered their winning ways the past two nights after a tough weekend. We finally ended Swift Current's winning streak (which might have ended on Sunday if not for a grossly incompetent referee) after bombing Medicine Hat.

Nine points up on Lethbridge with 12 games to play, though they have three in hand on us.

^ The Lethbridge game is on Shaw tomorrow too, 'Canes beat the Ice 7-1 the other night so they should be flyin' high.

That should be an interesting tilt. The Hitmen really need to send a message to the Bridge. We haven't fared too well against them this year.

Giants 5 Bruins 0 tonight, lots of Bruins fans made the trip down. WK were you one of them?

Garet Hunt got tossed in the first for a "tripping major." He charged blueline-to-blueline and the Bruin he had lined up (I think Chapman but I can't remember) would have been sent into next week had it connected. Only my second chance to see Repik live since his injury, he had a solid 4 pt night.

The Bruins had a decent first, but after Vancouver went up 2-0 they just deflated. Moller looked lost and was taking runs at guys, Santorelli and Matt Strong were the two best Bruins by far.

Next up: Edmonton on Wed, we'll see if Hunt and Sonne have another go at it after their epic scrap earlier this year (when Sonne was with Everett), and also if Hunt isn't suspended for the game misconduct he picked up tonight. It is on Shaw too, and the Giants/Rockets game next Sunday (which should actually be a decent tilt, plus Colin Long is worth checking out) is on Sportsnet.

Giants win big again last night, 7-0 over Edmonton..

Hunt got 2 games for that knee on knee on (and I stand corrected) Matt Strong.

Has anybody else heard about what's going on in Portland!! What a joke if those rumours are true. They are here tomorrow night I guess all the yahoos will be warning them not to break their sticks..

PS: WK you guys should try to slip to eighth and get the Americans (assuming everything stays the way it is).

Which rumour? That they haven't paid their stick manufacturer in so long that they are no longer receiving any, or that they canceled surgery for Underchute, opting instead to tell him to go to Canada for it, where it won't cost them anything?

Bad, bad situation down there if either rumour is remotely true as presented.

Alan Caldwell's blog entry on the nonsense in Portland:
http://smallatlarge.blogspot.com/2008/02/notes.html

Though I will disagree with him on Portland being the biggest mess in dub history. I think the Spokane Flyers still win that one easily.

He does make an interesting point, however, on the Pats going straight downhill ever since they acquired JD Watt.
