OMIGOD. What a choke job by the Cards.
Bears were exposed tonight though. I think they have had a soft schedule so far, and that offence will struggle against good teams. And that first Bears TD should have been called back for holding.

cardinals are professional losers.
I don't think the bears were "exposed" i think Rex was a little too cocky, thinking he could go ahead and go deep on every play and underestimated the zona defense.
he should really have thrown short a lot instead most of his passes were 15plus yards.

Until next year when we clean house in our garbage coaching staff and have Leinart, Boldin, and Fitzgerald together for a full year with our under-rated defense.

The game was going so well for me.
All I needed was a Berrian TD and for Robbie Gould to sit his ass on the bench the rest of the game. The Cards put up 23 points on the Chicago D. What happens? Berrian goes for 32 yards and the Bears D/ST scores 3 TD's. I went from being 10 points down with a decent shot to win to getting freaking pounded.
Ah....fantasy football. Isn't it grand?

I beleive I saw that too...it was a defensive lineman holding an offensive lineman that was TRYING to go for the ball, correct?
What a full blown, pathetic choke job by the Cards....when they settled for the FG at half time, I was just shaking my head thinking, you gotta bury those chances or they will come back to bit you in the ass. And LOOK...it did.
I still stand by my sentiment that the Bears are NOT as good as everyone is making them out to be.

Yeah, I was playing QB1 and when that commercial came on I said "I haven't seen this commercial in 10 years!" and another guy yelled out, "More like 30!"
Holy flashback, I was expecting to see Sweetness and The Fridge come onto the field after that.

Certainly a game breaking receiver might be needed now to try and get some of the attention off the Chiefs running game.
The Chiefs entire offensive scheme in the Vermeil/Saunders era traced back to their offensive line which used to be solid at all 5 spots. Welbourne, Tait, Weigman, Shields, and Roaf than last year when they had Waters in place of Tait were really solid units when at full health. As a result they could run the ball on anyone, and that set up their passing game. Also by having such a great group of 5 they could split Gonzalez out and use him as a receiver more often and move him around to create mismatches. But I do agree that Tony Richardson's absence is pretty significant. Consider that the Chiefs lost Welbourne, Richardson, Roaf, and Saunders I think they'd be having a tough time offensively even if Green was healthy.
This year the Chiefs have a different co-ordinator in Paul Hacket who is very predictable, and don't have the same tackles they used to have. I think the ability of the offensive line and an offensive scheme that took advantage of where the talented players was helped disguise the Chiefs weakness at WR. Now that the talent on the line isn't what it was, and the scheme is pretty predictable, it looks like a bit more talent would help at the WR position. The last couple drafts the Chiefs looked to defence with their top picks. Maybe they can look at the offensive side of the ball now as they need to get younger on that side of the game.
|
The offensive co-ordinator for the Chiefs is Mike Solari. Who was the long time offensive line coach. Which also may be a factor in the running game this season. Hackett was the co-ordinator back in the mid 90's when Marty was the coach. Brain Waters was in the O-line as a guard when Tait was here and Tait was replaced by Welbourne. Tait was the 5th player on that line anyway, behind Roaf, Shields Wegman and Waters.
Morton was ok in 2003 I think he had around 50 catches for 600 some yards and 3 or 4 TD's. But he was also with the team when they went 7-9 the following year. Your right it woudn't hurt to get better recievers. Samie Parker will drop 3 balls before he makes a decent catch. Kennison has allways been reliable yet he is not pro bowl material. Hall looks like he is the number 2 guy, he's fast, but can he leap up and get those high passes like TG? But through the Vermeil era when the Chiefs were churing out top scoring and top rated offenses, opponents allways said that none of the Chiefs receivers scared them. Yet Trent Green allways put up 4000 yard seasons.

I would have to agree. They have played well. But who have they played? They are in arguably the weakest division in the NFL. Wins against a weak Packer team, Lions team. A hard fought battle against the Vikes on the Road. A beat down of the defending conferance champions, with out NFL MVP Shawn Alexander, at home. And they beat up on a questionable Bills team. They got damn lucky in the game last night. I would have to say that the Bears defense IS as good as everyone is saying. They single handedly won that game last night. On the other hand Grossman was pathetic.

The Bears defitnely are overated! The best offense in the league? Pleeeasseee. Grossman 4 int's and 2 fumbles, I'm sorry but no. The Bears are a very good team, but there not the 72 Dolphins as some morons on TV have made them out to be.

The guy that has Grossman in my fantasy league got a whopping negative 5.50 points out of him. Lucky for the rest of us because he had a monster week with 174 points. If Grossman would have got his usual 25 points he would have put up 200 points.

This week has some interesting stuff going on...
Anyone watching that Steelers/Falcons game? 24-21 at the half for Pitt...unreal game so far. I admit i had written the Steelers off before the season with the whole Big Ben thing going on and the fact they would have a target on them all year...they look every bit the SB champions they are the last week.
Houston giving the Jags all they can handle.
Green Bay scored a defensive TD...will wonders never cease?
San Diego getting clobbered by KC....didnt see that coming at all.
And the Panthers/Bengals game is interesting as well...what the hell has happened to the Bengal offense? Its not been very good more than it has been.
Tampa pitching a shutout against the Eagles....stunning.

Just a little side note..
Brett Favre after throwing a TD pass in Miami today has TD passes in 36 different NFL stadiums.
Remarkable.

Big Ben knocked out of the game in Atl....Batch comes in and goes for 70 yds to Ward.
Atl comes right back and goes up 35-31....crazy game.

38-38 going into OT in Atlanta.
Jaworski calls San Diego the best team in the AFC and than they can't even beat KC. Chargers prove that they're a paper tiger.
Lots of other strange ones today too. Houston pounds the Jaguars, Tampa wins on a 62 yard last second field goal. Delhomme gives away a chance to tie the game with an INT. Second straight week I'm getting killed in that yahoo pool.

Global came through today with a great game, ATL Vs Pitt was just action packed.
Philly has 500 plus offensive yards, Tampa has under 200 and no offensive touchdowns and they win. You can't turn the ball over..
Eric Mangini the early pick for coach of the year
The Colts may have one of the worst defense's in the league.
