Nice work Jays - I go upstairs to grab a bite to eat and come down to a 4-0 lead. I guess that teaches me for leaving with 2 on and 1 out.
Overbay is absolutely on fire as of late. That's his 13th bomb of the year - he's on pace for 25+ now.

Lyle freakin' Overbay.
Just blasted his second of the night and 14th on the year. Jays now lead 8-0 with 2 outs in the second.
Looks like the Jays might be able to put a streak together for once. A win tonight would be their FIRST four game win streak of the season.

nothing like 8 runs in 2 innings to settle down your pitcher. Nice job, Jays!

I can't remember the Jays having a closer this dominant.
BJ Ryan faced 6 batters tonight, and struck out 5 of them. 1.2 innings pitched, 1 hit, O ER, 0 BB, 5 K. Now THATS a line!
Jays win 5-2.

In other baseball news, the catch of the year happened today during the Rangers/Astros game.
If you haven't already seen it, go to
http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/ho...narrowband.jsp
and near the bottom left of the page, click on the clip that says Matthew's amazing catch. You are unlikely to see anything quite like this for a long time. Gary Matthews Jr. will be on highlight reels for years to come with this gem. This video will only be up until tomorrow night, so watch it ASAP if you can.

Chad Mottola's 2nd stint with the Jays is going to be even shorter than his first was if he doesnt learn that the centrefielder has command in the OF real quick. He's already directly cost the Jays two runs and counting by twice ignoring Johnson calling him off.

How crappy is our luck? We get every single Ty Taubinheim (sp?) game televised, but when Halladay is pitching, there' something like a dog show or basss fishing or some other crap on Sportsnet or TSN?

I had the Jays/Rangers game with Doc pitching on Sportsnet (HD) last night.
I'm really hoping the Jays can get ahead of the Yankees before the all-star break. It would be a good mental hurdle to overcome.

The game was on TSN for me last night, unless I was hallucinating ... they were showing other programming during the rain delay like PTI and such.
Halladay would have had a great chance to start the All Star game if not for a scheduled start too close to the game ... is he ever going to get to start one?

There was a 90 minute rain delay. Evidently you turned in during that time.

And now a loss to the lowly Royals.
Sure does seem like the dog-days are early this year.
