####ing stupid. The Guardians in a junk division needed a last minute run to make the playoffs. The Jays went from last in the division to having the best record in the AL and 3rd in baseball.

Probably a combination of recency bias, the fact that the Jays roster was similar to the same as last year, and it’s been brought up over the years from players and other managers, but I don’t think Schenider is wildly popular around the league.

Ha. Doesnt really matter. But Vogt beating out Schneider for manager of the league is BS.

Just a random fan like any of us. He tweeted at Myles Straw asking him to recruit Kyle Tucker and Straw liked the tweet.

I'm not a Schneider fan but it was BS he didn't win. JD Bunkis said the Blue Jays won 20 more games than last year while Cleveland won 4 less.
But it's not the first time MLB has screwed something up so I wasn't surprised.

Jays supposedly kicking tires on Fairbanks who Tampa let go.
Would be a cheaper closer option than guys like Helsley, Suarez and Diaz. His K-rate and average velocity down a bit the last two seasons, but still a pretty effective closer, and if they could get him back to 22/23 levels where his FB was averaging 99mph and he was striking out 13-14 batters per 9 innings that'd be incredible.

Fairbanks used to be great. Wonder why Tampa let him go? Any info on that? While I haven't followed him of late if his stuff dropped wouldn't that put him in the same tier as Hoffman? I'd love him on the team, just not sure he'd be the closer.

11 million team option and they are cheap and would rather put $$ in their pockets

Typical cheap Rays. Declined an $11 million option.
I'm really optimistic that some nice signings will happen for the Jays this off season.

How awesome would it be if the Jays signed Imai and both he and Yesavage pitched well enough to garner serious Rookie of the Year consideration?

Man did Clement get jobbed on the gold glove. I saw one source today that had him the highest in defensive runs saved. Not highest for a 3B or utility guy, highest in the whole league.

It’s not quite that simple. He has nerve (physical) issuess where he basically can’t pitch in colder weather anymore. His stuff has also ticked downwards the last couple seasons according to multiple metrics.
Not to say that the cost relative to expected performance isn’t a factor for the Rays with this move but Fairbanks does have some questions under the hood.

Yeah. His arb number would be different with a gold glove I think - and of course in FA later it makes a difference as well

Probably just doing their due dilligence, but the Jays met with the agent for Edwin Diaz yesterday. Diaz is seeking a 5/100 contract, will be 32 to start the year.
Tremendously valuable reliever coming off an excellent season, no question would improve the back end of the bullpen substantially for likely the next 2-3 seasons.
Heavy price for a closer.
