It's going to be tough for the Leafs to win this series when Bennett is living rent free in their heads. This is why he's going to get a big contract in the offseason as he can alter the plight of a playoff series either by scoring or by the opposition always having their heads on a swivel when he's on the ice.
The fact that it's Bennett is why people are angry. He won't be suspended because he's a psycho and hides it so well. Doesn't mean we should just brush it off. Plus you know if the Leafs retaliate they'll be suspended. So yeah, as a Leaf fan, it's frustrating. They took out the #1 goalie who had an amazing season and first round.
Panthers are a good team. Don't know why they need to injure the opposition purposely.
You said it yourself, the only reason people are angry is because it's Bennett. Has nothing to do with the actual contact that happened which happens almost every game. This is a problem, you see it right? You can't judge a play based on the name on the back.

Injure the opposition purposely, give me a break.
Off the top of my head. He concussed Knies in 2023, Marchand 2024, and Stolarz 2025. So is he not continuously injuring opponents on borderline actions that never get punished. He's very good at hiding it but just admit he's a rat trying to injure players. Can't think of another player who is constantly knocking pkayers out of series. And they aren't from throwing big hits. It's all sbeaky rat stuff.

Yeah he has done stuff in the past like the Marchand hit. But you can't lump this one into that category. He's also taken guys out on clean hits, like the Slavin one last year. A bull in a china shop and all that. Bennett also gets called for phantom penalties all the time because of it.
This and the Marchand elbow are not the same. That one was dirty as hell.
If this were anyone else there would still be the inquisition in leaf land, due to the importance of the series, and Stolarz, and the fever that surrounds the team. That it's Bennett and he has a history lends credence to the argument that it was intentional.
I'd be surprised if he gets anything but wouldn't be surprised to see some form of retribution. Best thing for the leafs (other than Stolarz being able to suit up, of course) would be to get him to answer the bell, with offsetting penalties, then get back to their own game because that's how they can win this series.

Knies hit. Watch his right hand and how he swings it into Knies face. Knies out for the series. No penalty and no supplementary discipline. I guess it's not just that he does it but he's never punished for it either. Anways...no point in arguing. But he's the worst kind of dirty player because he hides it so well.
I clearly don't understand concussions, and have never had one, but that just didn't seem like a violent blow to the head. Was it kind of a whiplash? Wrist right to the jaw?
I feel like if you showed that play to 100 people not a single one would guess he was on the bench throwing up with a concussion after. Just so weird.
I really hope he is okay, and can somehow make it back into the series.
I'd be losing my mind if that was Wolf getting pulled from Game 1 of round 2 and finding out later he was actually taken to the hospital on a stretcher. Toronto's chances are worse with Stolarz out given how solid he looked in game 1. Bennett's game last night is why I love Bennett's game so much and would love to see him back with the Flames. He's greasy, he does dirty ####, he fights and he can score. He does cost his team a lot in terms of penalties, suspensions, etc. but I take that bad with the good he brings.
It should have been 2 minutes on the ice, but it wasn't suspension worthy, even with Bennett's track record. I think Storlarz was already concussed after the puck to the head.
If the contact with Sam’s elbow caused Stolarz to be stretchered out, Anthony must have some history of head injuries. Feels like it’s Tua T territory.

The idea that concussions only happen as a result of massive hits is one of the misconceptions that needs to be corrected.

If this happened to Wolf, CP would be losing their minds. Lol.
Yeah but that's playoff hockey. It's why a lot of regular season darlings never win the cup as you need some greasy players willing to keep the opposition on their toes. Nice guys finish last in professional sports and while Bennett straddles the tightrope, sometimes crossing it, we aren't talking about Matt Cooke here. He's the type of player every single GM would want on their team and I'm sure Treliving himself will be calling his agent on July 1st.
