Klapka had 2G, 3P that game. He didn't really do much for the assist, though.
Here's the 8-1 goal, with Klapka showing some good hand-eye in front of the net.

Here's Backlund's assist on a pretty good pass for Lindholm's goal on the PP vs France

Speaking of Lindholm, both Lindholm, and Markstorm have been having a great tournament so far.

This is from a few days ago, but Klapka's fellow countrymen seem to have a lot of respect for him.
https://www.nhl.com/flames/news/czec...ngs-for-klapka
Quote:
"I think he proved himself, especially at the end of the year where he played on the top two lines and played a lot," said fellow Czech forward and Colorado Avalanche winger Martin Necas, who saw Klapka three times in the final two months of the docket, including a one goal, one assist, four-shot, seven hit performance on March 31. "I think for his size he skates really well.
"I'm happy for him. He's a good guy. He's a hardworking guy. He deserves it."
Klapka was a late-season revelation for a Flames club scrapping and clawing its way through the Western Conference playoff picture.
The 6-foot-8, 235-lb. right-shot force had 10 points (6G, 4A) in 30 games with Calgary this season, finishing off his NHL obligations on a four-goal, eight-point heater in what amounts to, far and away, the most productive stretch he's had with the big club.
"He's a very smart player," said David Pastrnak, the golden goal-getter at the 2024 World Championship and the netter of 391 lamp-lighters over 11 seasons and 756 career regular-season skates with the Boston Bruins. "He got to play in the top-six in Calgary. For his size he can be a huge help and obviously around the net he has quick hands for how big he is.
"He can finish."

NHL players are so overrated, I can’t even understand how Canada can lose to this Finland team.

Puistola's rights were traded to the Oilers in the Puljujarvi trade, so blame them.

Never under estimate the Finns. They have been very successful at the international level at all levels in recent years.

Correct.
They won in a shoot out, in a game they were outplayed.
It happens.

I’ll admit, I’m a bit pissed Canada lost, and the funny part here is: I’m Finnish. The way Finland has played in this tournament (struggling against France, Austria, Latvia), I told everyone Canada will steamroll Finland. Also I hate Finlands coach, I don’t want him to win anything, he is awful.

Yeah...I was wondering about that. I thought you'd be ecstatic winning against Canada.
Who is Finland's coach and why do you hate him so much?

Antti Pennanen, just a understudy of the last coach Jukka Jalonen. He seems to be so clueless all the time, also his past actions in youth national teams, for example leaving out the top goalie prospect of the u20 tournament because HE hated that he (Blomqvist, Pens prospect), went to the Pens training camp / overseas rather than staying in Finland and Liiga. Also a few other notable rejections because of similar reasons.

Fair enough! I've held similar grudges and I can respect a good grudge.
Good for you!

A little while ago I was bored and did some math to determine what countries produce the most NHL hockey players per capita. Finland was second to only Canada. Canada was 1 NHL player per 93,000 people and Finland was 1 player per 105,000 people. After that, there was quite a dip. I didn't do pro players in general because I wasn't that bored, but I assume more Finnish players than Canadian players opt to play in Europe rather than playing low on the depth chart in the NHL.
No point really, also, I don't always math well so if anyone fact checks that and I was off, feel free to roast me.
Isn't it also true that Finland and Canada are the only 2 countries where hockey is the number 1 sport? I recall hearing that even in places like Sweden, Russia, and Czechia, soccer beats hockey in popularity.
