Gaudreau is an interesting case for me personally...because he's the Flames first star that was younger than me.

Iggy, Kipper, Macinnis, etc were guys that I grew up watching as a kid.

Gaudreau was the first Flames star that I watched grow up. And IMO that makes you have a connection to someone.

It's weird to think about but you see them grow up, get married, have kids and even though you've only met them in passing for a moment or two you feel like you know them.

And for me that hits a bit different to know now that he's (potentially) been taken from this earth way too soon, and it's even more devastating when you think about his two kids that are 2 years and like 5 months old.

Edit: Gaudreau was also the Flames first star in the social media era - so people interacted with his mom, dad, uncle, sisters, etc online. People connected with that player and family much more than most.

Exactly. Or even if they have been notified, they deserve privacy. The last thing they would need are media random people calling and showing up at their house. I am anxious that no media person has been able to publicly debunk it though.

I was looking forward to watching some of the Johnny + Monny show in CBJ. I think it would be an incredibly tough situation for Sean as well.

Man… even though it was just as spectators watching a sport most of us watched this man grow up on the Flames, we got to know his family, his parents. I’d say at least 90% of us have a Gaudreau jersey. I hope with every fibre of my body this news is fake. What a horrible night.
