I know there are occasionally reasons for that during European play, certain countries dont allow certain types of sponsorship, but usually it doesnt happen domestically.

they are reportedly only interested in a short term sponsorship deal because they hope that a return to the Champions League would then net them a better long term deal. But so far, they have failed to find a short term deal that works for them.

Yeah, it is weird, which is why I noticed it. You dont normally see an EPL team playing a League match without a shirt sponsor.

I thought it was really odd which is why it stood out.

Okay...so to add on to this...I think they're waiting for the 'City Decision.'

Everyone knows that Boehly has Saudi backers. Chelsea could sign the most lucrative sponsorship deal in known history any time they want.

I just wonder if they're just waiting to see what happens to City before they do it.

Boris Johnson and Richard Masters, the Premier League’s chief executive, denied Government interference prior to the £305 million deal being approved in October 2021. However, leaked messages from Amanda Staveley, who brokered the sale, now suggest top-level state interventions from both Saudi Arabia and the UK behind the scenes.

WhatsApps sent by Staveley suggest that Mohammed bin Salman, the de facto Saudi ruler, was signing off key decisions within the takeover, while Lord Grimstone, then minister for investment in the UK, “pushed behind the scenes” for the deal to be approved. Ms Staveley also detailed enlisting the help of the Saudi ambassador to the UK to rescue the deal in April 2021. That same month Mr Johnson, then Prime Minister, said his government “was not involved at any point in the takeover talks on the sale of Newcastle” in a written parliamentary answer.

The sale eventually went through after the Premier League was given “legally binding assurances” that the Saudi state would not be in control of Newcastle. However, MPs, who had repeatedly raised concerns at the time, reacted with concern to revelations in The Telegraph which shed fresh light on negotiations.

Newcastle Central MP, Chi Onwurah, said it now seems “unlikely” that Mr Johnson was “telling the truth” when he stated in a parliamentary answer to her in April 2021: “The Government was not involved at any point in the takeover talks on the sale of Newcastle.”

Manchester United new part-owner INEOS has continued its cost-cutting programme by ending a multi-million pound annual commitment to Sir Alex Ferguson, the most successful manager in the club’s history.

Following his exit as manager in 2013, bringing an end to a 26-year reign in which he won 38 trophies, Ferguson has been retained as a global club ambassador and club director and remunerated with an annual salary.

The only official description of Ferguson’s services as an ambassador to the club can be seen in their 2014 accounts under the related party transactions section, where United said the Scot signed an agreement on October 17, 2013, in which he became a global ambassador and received £2.16million ($2.82m) for his services, an arrangement that continued for over a decade.

yeah 1.48 feels super low. Lots of chances, hit the woodwork twice, missed several sitters. Should be up 3-0 easily.

Probably going to lose 1-0 thanks to an own goal in injury time or something like that.
