This thread seems pessimistic that Harris is the nominee. But the near $50m in political donations to ActBlue suggest a renewed enthusiasm for the Dems.

My personal opinion would compare it to analogy usimg prohibition where it.looks like its not an issue on the surface but there is a ton of black market going on. In public forums it would appear that those issues are less of an issue in the states but behind the scenes there are things still going on.

She isnt the best choice but I think some people think Trump is a lot more popular than he is...a lot of people will be thrilled to not have to chose a crazy old man. Trump is at his ceiling, dems need to get voters out to win...nobody is actually undecided on Trump come on now.

You’re just wrong. In fact, a higher percentage of people with college degrees voted for him in 2020 than 2016. It’s better to know the facts and deal with reality than to stick your head in the sand and become Panther Fan.

lol that is a Trump vs. Trump stat
Biden destroyed him when it comes to voters with college degrees. White uneducated men are Trumps biggest demographic, really its his only demographic (go figure)

Joe Biden was a great president. Brought the US economy out of the pandemic better than any other nation on earth.
But his actions today probably secure the future of democracy.
Harris will win. Easily. Mostly because young women who didn’t vote in 2016 or 2020 sure as sh-it will in November. And any Democrat with a pulse under 60 mops the floor with Trump amongst millenials and gen-z.
The debate fiasco was a lifeline to Trump. That advantage is gone. The assassination hardened his base for sure - but that was as hard as it was ever going to get. The shooter was primarily a loser dipsh-it, but also as a Republican from a family with Trump signs on the lawn, there was no “left agenda” that was going to play.
Biden stepping down removes the incompetence angle. The GOP doesn’t have anything else. Stick a fork in em.
It’s a huge sigh of relief from anyone rational.

If there is one, Trump is whining today that the "unfair" ABC shouldn't host the debate and that it should be FOX

This is what people are missing BIDEN of all people got 60% of 18-29 year olds last time and Trumps base has only gotten older or died.
Young people are notoriously hard to poll as well. Trumpers are also such lunatics they are far more likely to scream from the rooftops who they are voting for.
Whomever this new nominee is they haven't even started campaigning yet and Trump is coming off of three straight bumps. I suppose we can bump this in a few months and see who is rational...I had many of these same debates last time.

Yup. The first 27 min of Trump’s speech at RNC were his electorial peak. He actually sounded like a rational human. He had sympathy from anyone who is against political violence. His opponent had shown serious mental issues in a key moment, and was felled by Covid.
Then he went off script for an hour and demonstrated what a stupid senile joke of a candidate he is.
And today his opponent became a young politically competent person with a fully functional brain, who will have the full backing of everyone who believes in science, equal rights, and good fiscal policy.
It will be fun to watch MAGA squirm for a few months before the more savvy GOP suddenly seem to find a spine. Not that it’ll save them.
Looking forward to term limits on supreme court judges in 2025. And to Trump having to pay for his crimes (financially if nothing else).

50m ain't that much brother. That's about the same as what Elon Musk gives Trump a month. Musk donates 45m a month part of his 180 million pledge to Trump after the failed assassination attempt failed .
That 50 million actblue got was from multiple donors. That dosen't scream enthusiasm. That screams donors who backed out are now back in . So it's not a surge alot of donors backed out and now are recommiting so it looks like a in flux of money but it's not.

Yum! how does that orange koolaid taste?
If you researched the Trump facts and still think he is a viable option you are lying in the basket of deplorables.

Whoa. Dude.
He is that McDonald's 'Orange Drink' that you got at Scout Bottle drives and Community gatherings.
There was unlikely to be any actual 'Orange' in it, of any kind, and it was only called that because of the colour.
The entire drink was a lie and everyone loved it.
Pretty much sums up America and Trump.

Is $460mil in a quarter small? that was with Biden.
The large donors for the Dems like "Musk" aren't even in play yet.
Quote:
ActBlue, the leading Democratic online donation processor, reported that donors gave $46.7 million in small-dollar donations through the platform for the day by 9 p.m. Eastern. It was already ActBlue's biggest day of 2024 with hours left to go.
It's among the biggest fundraising days ever for ActBlue. It announced this year that in the first quarter, donors gave over $460 million through the platform — a little over $5 million a day on average.

If this is destruction, one must wonder what needs to happen this time.
