Of course the flames also get their scripted PP leading into OT (this happens everytime I watch the Flames)
|
I guarantee we watch the Flames more than this Oilers fan and I can't remember the last time the Flames got a powerplay leading into OT. It's crazy just how incorrect and flat out bad their takes are.
They mentioned last night that the Flames only won 2 games last season when trailing in the 3rd period which they have already eclipsed. That's kind of shocking over 82 games that they could only pull that off twice.

For me it was Vladar, who made several sensational saves at big moments.
The most noticeable forward was Sharangovich. He was good in all aspects of the game, especially the PP where he retrieved the puck a bunch of times after shots and kept the Flames in control.
Zadorov was also important in that game. He wasn't perfect but he made some big hits and used his long reach to disrupt plays. He also carried it well a few times and built some momentum.

Last night I took pajamas out for my 6 year old. He says "No, the Darth Vader ones!".
Ok little buddy, no problem. Didn't think much of it.
Turns out he was using The Force to will a win for Vladar.
Having your child manipulate the force like Qui-Gon to have your team win a sports game... the real reason to have kids!

Was at an event last night where Pascall spoke. He was asked about a few things:
- When will Coronato get recalled? He spoke specifically about how terrible the PP is and that Coronato could help there. He spoke about how well Coronato is doing in the AHL, and it's just a matter of time.
- When asked about Zadorov, he reiterated what we've heard - they've handled it in the room, Zad has been a pro about it behind closed doors. He then went on to discuss the four UFAs, and that while it's not completely out of the realm of possibility that they get re-signed (as the Flames haven't closed that door), it does not look like that is what is going to happen and that the Flames will do what is best for the organization. Specifically on Z, he said there's a market with a few teams right now but the Flames are banking on the market expanding as other teams open up more cap space as the season goes along.

Needs to be more chatter on Sharangovich again.
He was a standout last night.
Interesting to see he's the new wrinkle on the powerplay both in the bump back position on entry and then the feature shooter on the first unit.
His poise with the puck in traffic is night and day from what we saw in October.
More games like that and the conversation quickly moves from middle six to top six.

Funny that with all the preaching of patience for Huberdeau last season, many didn't feel the need to give Sharangovich 15-20 games to get himself settled as well after a pretty big move.
Even after that first shootout in game 2 or 3 or whatever it was when he absolutely ripped one off the iron, you could tell he had major skill. The upside with him is huge and he's only going to get better now.

I highly doubt they don't sell anyone. That's just bad asset management especially for Lindholm and Hanifin unless both end up re-signing which I don't expect to happen. If they let someone just walk for a run at the playoffs I think it would be Tanev.
I think what's more likely is they don't move them for just picks and prospects. But I think that was always wishful thinking by some on here. Zadorov or Tanev maybe but I think Lindholm and Hanifin deals would involve younger players who can play now.

His passing also seems very underrated. He makes a bunch of nice ones every game it seems.

Early in the season he was giving me Saprykin vibes, has the tools but couldn't seem to get it together. You can see he is getting more comfortable and he is doing a lot of the little things right. He did a lot of good things that don't necessarily show up on the score sheet.

Holy eff though. He went rogue a couple times with the puck, and if it wasn't for his reach, would have been stripped and opportunity the other way. lol

I think almost every player made a big mistake, but also every player was overall very good.
