Call me wildly cynical but I feel like McDavid missing the HC cements Andersson serving the full 4.
I chuckled
Obviously McDavid is not relevant to this situation
But of course if you watch Sportsnet, you know that whether or not McDavid is relevant doesn’t actually matter, he will be brought in to the conversation
Fast forward to the angle starting at about the 33 second mark. Sure looks like he leaves his feet before he actually makes contact with Laine.
I mean, look at Laine here in the still...he should have some accountability of putting himself is such a position when the game is "over" I would tell kids not to play like this in the middle of the ice.

come at me

I think it's fair to ask players to be more aware of protecting themselves on plays like this. I think it's also fair to ask players to be more situationally aware when attempting a hit.

What I've never got is that having your skate embedded in the ice and using that leverage should be more devastating no? If I skated at a 6'4" guy and then jumped, I'd be dead as opposed to just hurt by not leaving my feet. If I throw my stick at you versus burying it into the ice at a 45 degree angle and you skating into it, I'd take the chuckstick.
They need to eliminate the "left his feet" semantics and have a better description of what is not allowed, mostly so people on the internet don't argue about the microseconds as feet leaving the ice.
I don't think the Heritage Classic should matter in the punishment.
I also think the timing of the hit does matter. The game is over and it serves no purpose for the hockey game aside from trying to hurt again because you lost.
With that said, I think 4 games was too long for this incident anyway. Should have been 2, max 3.
stick the pom poms up your ass, I bet they both fit
I voted one game...4 is a ####ing joke. Still waiting for a comparable with a first time offender.
repeat offender Tkachuk got 2 for intentionally sticking a goalie in the eye...he should thank baby jesus he was no longer playing for the Flames
You were full on ranting that night that it was Laine to blame for getting injured. That it was not suspendable because the Sportsnet panel said so! hahahahaha
You need a break dude. 5 games and you are going to stroke out protecting the Flames this season.. lol
