Even if it's the best offer you have for Toffoli today... Why pull the trigger?

The pro scouts must really value Sharangovich. I just don't see it, but I guess prove me wrong.

Still feel this trade was probably there the next couple days, could have seen who else wanted to put forward an offer for Toffoli
 |
Or the offers that you do have disappear because you are too busy picking your nose and not taking action.

Chris Johnston on TSN said that Flames will likely end up in salary arbitration with Sharangovich. NJ contract talks didn't gather any steam.

Arbitration eligible, so he should be under contract to start the season one way or another. A few hundred K per season lower and this kid might be the next Duehr that people get inordinately excited about. As it is, he'll make a bit too much money to fit that scrappy underdog kind of role that folks seem to love to cheer for.

			Initially underwhelmed, now mostly whelmed.
Eternal Flames optimist in me now sees the potential:
RFA but down year, sign to cheap long-term deal. Plays with Huby for next 8 years and both become PPG the whole way through.

I'm extremely disappointed. I guess it was too much to hope we might get some valuable assets, so we can actually bring in good players. I expect I'd eventually like Yegor Sharangovich, but he has quite a few areas he can improve(especially defensively). I just don't expect him to be more than a middle 6 forward in his time with the Flames.
I fully expect Backlund to be dealt now. As I see Sharangovich being the #3C next year.

To some extent, this is similar to when the Flames got Lindholm and Hanifin.
Most hated that trade, but they got 12 years of Lindholm and Hanifin for 2 years of Hamilton and 1 year of Ferland.

We’ll get multiple years out of Shar for 1 year of Toffoli.

Calgary needed to get younger and cheaper, and they accomplished that.

They were never in the short term going to get younger, cheaper and better.

No one was willing to give up a first round pick for Toffoli.

Taylor Hall was given away for free. Should Toffoli actually have been worth so much more?

Meh, then trade him after the draft. Could have possibly still had this with next year's 3rd instead sitting there for you later.

Whatever, trade is what it is. Just disagree with the early trigger pull.

Flames get a player who is younger and hopefully excited to play here plus a 3rd round pick. Looks like he just turned 25 as well. Not a super exciting trade, but I think it has potential to be a solid trade for both teams.

I love the “sell high on a career year “ crowd - like other teams don’t it’s their career high and will be tricked

Have a feeling the Flames will be fun and not play defense to get Hubi a recovery season. This is how you finish in the lottery, losing 6-4 games.

Problem is...you cannot sign him to a 4x3M or 4x4M after the season he just had...what he should really get is a 1x2M...which means he is a Ufa next summer...

 Offer sheet?

EDIT: I've been corrected. Offer sheet picks now are 2024.

Oh so one year of a guy who quite possibly doesn't want to be here is an option? Cool.

Ugh. Alright taking a break, we'll see how it shakes out overall.
