I think the problem with Sutter's "get shot on net" approach was that there was never anyone crashing the net. If you want to get shot on net, you need to have people willing to crash the net and bank in the rebounds.

Will he do the Huskan Raider celebration when they win?

We honestly don't have a firm handle on how he will do. Plenty of experienced coaches with proven track records flop on some teams, and excel in others. I am just hoping that Huska proves himself to be a good fit for this group (whatever it ends up being this year and beyond).
It is funny how this has worked over the years - I can only think of one "player's coach" that was any good, and that was Badger Bob. Everyone else has been mediocre. Some hard asses have failed, but excluding Badger, all the really good years happened under hard asses (and there weren't that many of them to be honest). Plenty of hard asses failed miserably as well though.
I am just going to keep an open mind. Conroy did his due diligence I think with how many candidates were contacted and interviewed. Huska has also been groomed for a long time in this organization. Only one way to truly know if he is ready is to give him a shot. I am keeping an open mind about him.

Hopefully he has a seasoned set of assistants. Kind of like Conroy has with Nonis and Maloney

I have no problem with the huska hire. It's just not the sexiest pick in terms of recency bias. That's all.
Next step will be to see what the feeling is for the players we are waiting to hear answers on in terms of committing to the Flames. (LINDHOLM)
This is just another step. Now that it's going to be out of the way Monday. I can't wait for the meat of the offseason to begin. Draft and trades! Let do this baby!

Love giving a new guy a shot. So tired of the NHL coaching and management carousel.

Honestly, I think a teardown should hinge on Lindholm resigning.
There's no point in even trying if he doesn't. You can't compete after subtracting your 1C, and there won't be a guy ready to replace him in that time frame.

Players as well as club staff wanted some new and fresh wind. So thats why people are underwhelmed I guess

Just like I said even after Tre was fired that I would be shocked if Sutter was back, I will be shocked if Lindholm doesn't get extended. That is all I am saying.

What do you think is Lindholm’s motivation to extend?
He’s coming off a bit of a down year, so it’s not like he’s cashing in at a peak (unlike Huberdeau last year).
He’s one year from hitting free agency which would also coincide with the salary cap “unlocking” and jumping a good deal.
The Flames aren’t an organization with a winning history nor a high end prospect pool that would sell the player on winning in the future.
…so that leaves one thing. Overpayment. Is that something we should be doing?

Listening to the Huska interview that was posted, he pretty much echoes exactly what Conroy was talking about. He preaches team structure in the defensive zone, but also says you have to let you skilled players be creative in the offensive zone. He specifically mentioned Tkachuk as a player that liked to try things and it shouldn't be discouraged. He said that you have to help teach them how to read situations for when to make the easy plays and when to free wheel.
I think he sounds like a smart coach and I like that he puts an emphasis on team defense. Defense is so important, not just for preventing scoring chances against, but your skilled guys are not going to get scoring chances if they are pinned in their own zone too often. You need a good defensive strategy so that you can transition to offense and let the offensive players do their thing.

It's the only thing they can do if they want to stave off a rebuild longer to take a couple kicks at the can.
I'm a proponent for biting the bullet and selling Lindy for a haul, but obviously the current brass feels very differently from those like myself. They believe in the anything can happen narrative.
If Lindholm doesn't meet them half way by summer's end then they need to sell him.
If we don't learn from Trelivings mistake with Gaudreau then what are we doing.

We will see. 8 years x 8.5 or 8.75M/Yr.

I was hoping for Love, but if we keep him on staff I'm happy with that too. It's not like I dislike Huska, and if there was anything consistently good about the team the last handful of years it was generally the defense. Who says he can't surround himself with offensively minded assistants and have the team playing a complete game again.

Huska at the expense of Love is what would make this move suck.
If Love is a part of the staff then my initial feelings towards this will change.
