Meier wasn't bent over tying his skates, he was upright enough he didn't have to make the principal target the head. But he chose to. He saw a vulnerable player and decided to blow him up, head first.

Hopefully one day the NHL will get serious about head shots and concussions.

Rangers are always overrated year after year. Swiss cheese on defensive depth and bottom two lines. Don't know how they get so much credit year after year.

At the same time though Meier needs to do better to protect himself there, that is straight up trolley tracks and having your head down.

It would have been impossible to make contact with any other part, Meier was bent over leading with his head. Trouba would have had to take him out at the knees. It's a borderline hit but I'm fine with it not being a penalty.

I'm not annoyed that I'm even defending that POS.

Yeah, and from a pool standpoint if anyone tends to have them it's rare their best players step up to the plate. Losers all around. I do like Zbenejad though.

I really wonder what happened to the Rangers. After adding Kane and Tarasenko (Mikkola, Motte) they somehow became a worse team. Too many big egos, messed up the chemistry? Whatever it was, they played their worse hockey in the playoffs. Puzzling.
