Chychrun will never live up to the king's ransom that the Coyotes are asking for him. He looks like Darnell Nurse to me. Even had his career season in 2021 which doesn't count as a real season just like Nurse did.

These are connections I can believe. That does seem like there’s a desire for Calgary for sure.

The guy has played 68, 50, 53, 63, 56, and 47 games. His availability is an obvious limitation.

But sure, take that tone.

Top end UFA’s sure… but they have a roster to fill. They will absolutely be signing some UFA’s. At least one…

Yup. And the Flames have done exactly that being patient with him for what, 5-6 years now? They're going to give him a long leash unless another team forces Calgary's hand in a trade where whatever they're dangling is highly desirable for the Flames.

Posters are talking about Kadri and other high end UFA's.

UFA's costing $1M or so are no different then our own guys from a cost perspective.

There is about to be a run on Russian talent that has not been seen since the fall of the Berlin Wall.

If we’re looking value for our dollar, I’d start looking there.

I’d also be looking at what I’d need to do to fit Malkin in.

What I wouldn’t do is spend assets or more premium cap space on the blue line.

Hey dino7c set the rules about accurate language, I’m just following them.

Don't know why - Jagr was always a hired gun (7 teams not counting KHL before Calgary) versus Malkin who has played on one team.

Depends how much we pay. He had a great year and is a decent middle 6er but there’s no way he’s repeating his numbers on a team other than Florida. I think he’d put up coleman numbers here

I wonder if Nick Paul is going to be the over-rated UFA this summer that some team makes a mistake on. Has been making $1.35M and he's had a good playoffs.

Without a doubt it's going to be Nichushkin. Don't get me wrong he's turned into a good two way player but there's a team out there that's going massively overpay for a 15 goal 35 point player. He will never repeat this season's stats on another team.

Yeah, I agree with you. Big body too, who plays big. Someone will pay. I'm thinking 5.

Depends on his usage going forward.

He's an excellent all around player.

You put him with a very good centre, and you might be surprised with how good a player he's become.

But I agree, he'll be like virtually all UFA's, overpaid.

But he might actually be the exception and bring great value. Although I'm not wanting to be the guy making that bet.

I think this year's Nikushkin is what you get going forward. He had a long injury recovery. I like him a lot more than Burakovsky out of that team's potential UFAs.

Maybe if MacKinnon and Landeskog move with him. I just can't see him being close to this season's numbers with another team as those linemates pretty well guaranteed him a career season.

Happens every year.
David Clarkson syndrome.
Always a big power guy who puts up a solid playoffs and then gets over paid.

How about if he ends up with Gaudreau and Lindholm? That's a pretty parallel move. Could be a crazy off-season.
