Absolute beauty. Our best chance at Stanley. He’ll squeeze every drop out of this roster.
I've never been as optimistic about the team as I am now, with him helping to right the ship. Sutter's one of the brightest hockey minds to ever step behind a bench, and I can't wait to see him go into the hall of fame in a few years with hopefully 3 or more Stanley Cups to his name.
And how would the Flames ever possibly replace #1 defenseman Mark Giordano?
I know Andersson had a pretty bad year last season, but I distinctly remember a certain poster for most of last season and all through the summer unrelentingly banging his drum about how overpaid and over-rated he was as a top-four defenseman moving forward. That guy looks pretty dumb now.
And here we are a year later with the answer to all the hand-wringing about the hole left by Giordano.

How about the guy who said Giold was washed up and that Tkachuk would have a career year after his "leadership" left the team.....
I see playoff series wins in our future.

Stamkos should have been assessed a fighting major + instigator. That's an easy call. Both gloves off while Monahan's was cemented on, but continued to throw and land punches even while they were on the ground.
I would be ok with a double-minor if he face-washed Monahan. Even if he threw a couple with the gloves on. However, throwing down his gloves and not giving Monahan a choice, and continuing to throw punches - that's a fighting major + one of the easiest instigators to call.
I lost all respect for Stamkos after his cheap shots against Barkov in the first round of last year’s playoffs. Barkov wasn’t the same player for the rest of that series. Stamkos didn’t get penalized then either.

If they meet, Bennett will dummy him

Very curious to see how Sutter plays the goalies for the weekend games. I wanna say Vladar Saturday and Markstrom Sunday… but I wouldn’t be shocked to see the opposite or even Markstrom playing both.

Flames have broken through and are contenders in my view. This was a playoff type game against a top team and Cup champions.
Johnny with the hat trick and Backlund with a good goal. The Flames have the top good players and can get it done.
Shots on goal were pretty even 32-31 in favor of the Flames, otherwise all other stats were quite even other than the special teams as the Flames capitalized on 5 pp chances with a goal. So that was probably the difference in the game,TB playing shorthanded, Flames forced them into penalties.
Good defining win!
Flames only had two power plays until the last 3 minutes, so the game was pretty much 5 on 5.
