Ziggy Lidstrom, I thought it might be time to update our wager:
The Flames currently sit at 164 goals for.
They need 36 goals to hit 200.
In 35 games.
That is a pace of 1.028 goals per game.
They are currently at 3.49 goals per game.
The lowest GF/GP in the history of the NHL is the 1928-29 Chicago Blackhawks at 0.75, with the next worst the 1928-29 Pittsburgh Pirates at 1.05 goals per game.
Due to this historic and consistent low goals per game, the forward pass was permitted in the 1929-30 season. Since the start of that 1929-30 season, the lowest goals per game was the 1935-36 Montreal Canadiens, with 1.71.
So, what I am saying is, the NHL would need to remove the forward pass for the Flames to even come close to not hitting 200 goals this season...

Wanna bet? Sutter just did that because some guys had very little ice time and some had too much due to special teams, and he’s still trying to manage Toffoli’s minutes.

This had me roaring.
Also can you imagine watching hockey without forward passing.

Agree that they were well blended, but Darryl said it was because it was the 2nd night of a B2B and he had to even out the ice time with all of the early penalties. He has had good success with the lines he started with in the last 2 games, and I expect he will likely continue to use them until he has a good reason to make a change.

Um, Sutter did say he was here to win the Stanley Cup, and he spoke of "unfinished business." Promises don't get much bigger than that

Yeah some interesting looks to end the game. It was:
Lewis-Ruzicka-Coleman
Dube-Monahan-Mangiapaine
Lucic-Backlund-Toffoli

The lines will be back to how they were start of next game, guaranteed. It was all about minute management at the end of a back to back with lots of special teams. Not worth too much thought.

Sutter said it was to get some spark. The lines had been lose, most likely due to fatigue. I’m sure the lines go back to the way they were for Saturday.

With 3 home games left in February, they might be around 180 by time the calendar flips.
