It doesnt help when the media helps feed this delusion. Drooling over McDavid constantly, always picking them to finish at the top of the standings and an ever present cup threat from the prognosticators. Its gross.

The best part about this is taking the Canucks’ goalie AND top defender away. 18% of our regular season is against them.

Perhaps it was a bad omen to nickname them the 'Lotto Line'?

The Canadian media is the worst for building up fans hopes when they have flavor of the day players only to crush them when those players are displaced by the new flavour of the day. They get so excited about young players that they forget that the NHL is a team game and start anointing greatness before it's been achieved. The Flames have been as good or better than the Leafs, Canucks, Oilers over the past three seasons but you would never know if you just went off Canadian media coverage. They are kind of the forgotten team as they don't have the shiny new toys on their roster but have the most well rounded roster which isn't sexy to people that like shiny toys.

Remember that the media picked up the mantra of "They're building something special up there" about 10 or so years ago, and they've been wrong ever since, but they've never backed down from it, because like the Fonz, they just can't admit as experts that they've been wr . . . . . wro-o-o . . . . wroooooon . . . . .

This must be what the Leafs felt like after the Gilmour trade.

It's from way before Blades of Glory. I remember it catching on in the old usenet days in the 90s, along with other play on words like "cow orker".

Didn't catch the game last night, but did Sportsnet fix their audio delay?

The audio delay was an issue because broadcasters don't travel with the team. The hometeam does calls the game. Winnipegs local broadcast is TSN, so Sportsnet's feed had announcers that were calling the game from Calgary ( watching footage).

So in short no. They didn't fix the broadcast, it will be like that when they play in Winnipeg, and any other time it is a home game for a team that is covered by TSN.

I'd prefer a 'stadium sound' only option, really.

Get 5 point surround and unplug the centre speaker.

We saw what happened to Leah Hextall when she called it like it was (and still is).

It's so lame that they continue to latch onto this group of misfits led by two selfish players in awful laser tag outfits, run by the most entitled and pretentious management group this side of the border/possibly hemisphere.

Flames have nicer jerseys, a horn that doesn't sound like a bagpipes' last breath, a classy and charitable Norris winning captain, a team that plays as a group and doesn't abuse two guys ice times, a lady byng winning top scorer who is a great ambassador for the game that inspires smaller kids that they can make the show too, Craig ####in Conroy, and now one of the premiere goalies in the game.

Putting a similar effort into supporting this team and its players seems like a no brainer, but who am I to tell the media what team is worth their focus and what isn't, when the same repeated results over the last decade from that gong show won't even deter them. Chatting about McDavid's latest stats-padding play in a loss is what does it for these people at the end of the day. And sadly, we have to watch their subpar production on top of it.
