Long shot, but has anyone ever seen these lever one hole punches for something not idiotic in price like $50+ for a used one?

No, not the two hole punches. Those are easy to find. I want the lever one hole punch ones because they're easy to quickly do a stack of papers and then fasten together with a brass fastener, then flip through them (ie: a draft play or script or presentation).

Two hole punches and 3 hole punches aren't quite the same result.
Just buy a two and use only one of the punches?

I've investigated that before. It doesn't work. The levers are almost always in a V shape and the lever sits on the push down punch piece itself and the rivets somehow use the sliding punch piece as support. Plus the two hole punch doesn't go as deep (approx 1cm deep vs up to 2-3cm for any one hole punches) so the brass fastener can rip through the paper easier. Two hole punches are dirt cheap and I can easily find them for a few bucks. It would have been great if it would have worked.

I've investigated using 2-4 hole lever punches and modifying them as well. Also typically has issues with removing the punches/sliding them or not going much deeper than about 1cm.

Handheld ones are a PITA to try and get through more than one page as it not designed to help stabilize a stack of papers by pushing on two corners like the 1 hole lever punch is. Higher chance of it starting to slide and fan out after 3-5 pages are stacked together.

They inexplicably were discontinued a few years ago. No one stocks them. Staples, Grand and Toy, Walmart, Amazon, Ebay... supply just quickly drained out and then I never saw it again. Hard to find on the internet and stuff. I'm looking for one as a replacement to the one I have that broke. I'm basically going to have to hope a store without an online presence has one sitting on a dusty shelf somewhere or some used ones pop up for a reasonable price (not $50-80+).

I've found two at thrift stores over the last few years, but they're often in horrible shape and basically not able to even punch holes anymore.

I searched Amazon for heavy duty single hole punch and there were a few options, some handheld ones that look like they'd handle more, and these ones:
https://www.amazon.ca/inch-6mm-Punch...dp/B0B6G6V4JQ/
https://www.amazon.ca/Capacity-Porta...dp/B095YLHF2T/

EDIT: Can't think of anywhere in town though.. I checked Michaels but didn't see anything.

Yeah I know of those, but I like the "L" bracket thing that is on a lever punch to hold the paper in place. That way you can do more pages per punch and have the hole in the same spot every time. Squeeze punches take a bit more effort to get it aligned and you can't do as many pages without it fanning out at times.

Yeah, I've literally spent dozens of hours searching every year for the last few years. I've also tried looking into mods like 1-4 hole punches, card punches etc. as an alternate to the one hole punch.

I wonder if a drill would tear the paper too much.. if you clamped the paper really well between 2 pieces of sacrificial wood

Would a leather hole punch work for your use case? Lee Valley sells them.

Hole isn't consistent enough or without jagged edges that snag the fastener causing the pages to rip easier.

The closest I've ever found are certain employee card punches with oval and flat ish shape. The hole is a bit too wide.

Use a 2 hole punch and then just use one of the holes? Or take a 2/3 hole punch machine apart and remove 1 or 2 of the hole cutters.

The slot isn't deep enough so the punched hole isn't deep enough. Most cutters also can't be removed without messing up the lever.

Building a guide around a squeeze punch with a 3-5cm slot might make more sense if this type of tool is totally extinct. =\

Hoping someone might have some ideas for the following:

Looking for a graphic tee shirt with some sort of volleyball theme on it. Size 12-14 or thereabouts.

It is for a girl who has recently gotten into volleyball and English is not her first language, so just want to make sure the graphic makes sense to her. Seems easy, but need to get my hands on one before Friday and the amazon options don't meet that deadline.

Thanks in advance for any ideas. Appreciate it.

Maybe try those "print your own t-shirt" place at the mall?

It probably doesn't, but he also probably didn't mean it in a derogatory way but rather to say a new Canadian has gotten really into a new sport and he wants to support that.

Anyway, I've used Coyote T-Shirts a few times and they've always been quick and good quality.

All the law firms used to have those - it's how we kept loose papers on the file. Some of them may have some lying around in a drawer or closet, and I guarantee they don't use them anymore.

EDIT: I walked around just now and saw a couple on assistants' desks. I can see if one can be liberated. They may be reluctant.

Jesus. I knew this would come up.

Strictly because living in Mexico, maybe some of our north american phrases that might be on a shirt might not translate well and she might not like the shirt.

But keep looking to add drama to every little thing.
