Loved watching him when he was at his best and simply wheeling, almost effortlessly away from trouble and a pretty good passer. When he was at his best, like he seemed to be last season.
Absolutely have seen both he and Gio cut off McDavid on one his high speed on the left wing and then cut towards the net rushes. Brodie can do it and likely still can. Gio? lets hope he has a renaissance year!

This is a good signing for the Leafs. I'm happy for Brodie as this is probably better for his family.

A loss but not as huge of a loss as some are making it out to be

He is likely going to be paired with Reilly. A healthy Reilly with Brodie should be fine. Reilly is no slouch.

Okay with this as long as Tre lands Pietrangelo.
In all seriousness, it could work. Wonder if we're in on it. We are overloaded on the left side. Might be worth it if Pietrangelo could be landed on a reasonable AAV. Would then have to move Gio or Hanafin for a good young forward.

I suspect a Muzzin-Brodie pair would be even more effective, given how those two offset each others' skillsets.

Defensemen I would still be highly interested in and I think would fit with the Flames' needs:
Dmitry Kulikov (LD), Mark Pysyk (RD), Troy Stecher (RD), Mirco Mueller (LD), Zach Bogosian (RD), Slater Koekkoek (LD), Yannick Weber (RD), and Tyson Barrie (RD)

Oh I guess it wasn't close for Brodie to stay. My brother's best friend is his neighbor and he has had his boxes packed up for over a month now.

Really sad he was developed by us and played great. My favorite memory of him is carrying our defense after Gio went down and winning the Canucks series in 2015.
Was my favorite player (((
Sadly i think Calgary wasnt an option due to his wifes health concerns. One of the few players i actually want to do good on a different team. I hope he kills it in Toronto.

This makes me sad. I really wanted to bring Brodie back. Some fans were delusional when it came to Brodie. He was a great player for us.

Muzzin-Holl have shown a lot of chemistry together so I'm guessing they keep those two together.
The Muzzin paring gets the tough defensive assignments. Reilly-Brodie gets the Ozone starts.
Third pairing of Sandin-Dermott.

To clarify: T.J. Brodie does not have to be protected in the Seattle expansion draft by the #leafs.
Just like Jake Muzzin, he has a no-movement clause for next season which then converts to a limited no-trade clause.

Tough to see Brodie go, even though I was convinced it was happening all year.
Nine largely terrific season with the Flames that saw him go from one of the League's hidden gems among the analytically-inclined to a household name - and deservedly so. Sure, he's been on the receiving end of the Gio bump, but that's no fault of his own...the fact the Flames were comfortable putting him in that spot is a testament to his two-way skillset.
Brodie was a joy to watch at moving the puck out of the Flames' end, whether through his smooth skating or his under-appreciated long-pass vision and execution. What a silky backhand sauce for a defenceman, too.
Brodie is heading into a Maple Leafs team and system that will be a wonderful fit for his style of play. Really great move by Dubas and the Maple Leafs at no acquisition cost.
All the best and thanks for everything, TJ!

Yea I think both are ready to take on some NHL spot duty.
When you mix in Kylington and Valimaki all we really need is one more dman, unless we want to sign another vet on a league min contract to sit in the press box.

Sad to see Brodie gone. He was a great part of the team for many years. Lots of good times watching him play.

Yeah this stings. One of my favourite players on the team for a very long time now, if not my fave. I can't believe that unspeakable Game 6 was his last as a Flame. Goddamn.
