I'm surprised there's no claim that Tkachuk isn't the MVP just because of his assassination of Scheifele.

Interesting defense strategy... Ranks up there with Cherry's don't block the shots because 1 out of 50 will get deflected on the net.
I think you are bringing on bad Karma by under valuing Talbot.
PS. Must have been an extremely boring game if these 4 easy saves were all they could find to put on a 3 minute recap.
|
Naw that's not what I said. Not great D, but yes they were stops your goalie should make.
And as someone else said - they were included in the highlight pack because they were among the better chances they got.
The Flames D really was tight in the game.
The more impressive stop, which for some reason didn't make most of the packs, was the 2 on 0 download where Talbot read the play and slide across to make the save.

I am waiting for you to go back over the whole game and find the 15 great saves that Hellebuyck made that were as good or better than Talbot's 4 or 5 in the 3 minute recap.
Or do you not watch the games at all?

I assumed he was countering some argument but that was silly of me. I could, however, probably show an equal number of good saves to the 4 he's talking about. Starting with Dube's breakaway.
But moreover:

Oh man ...
Lets ignore a pile of data because I saw four plays? That's honestly what you're going with?
Talbot was solid. But he didn't have to be great because the Flames gave up so little ... and that matches the eye test.
He certainly wasn't the MVP (my only point).
But for sure if he let in a weak one he could have undermined the team defense in front of him and that would have changed the series.
But you don't hand out the MVP to a guy that avoided stepping on a rake.

Dammit. Oh well. Bishops numbers vs the Flames are very good, and align with his playoff record.
Flames made Hellebuyck look vulnerable all series so I'm hoping that the team has found the recipe for success when it comes to scoring on elite goalies. Hopefully they can continue to have an effective PP as Bishop is easily the Stars player I worry about the most.

I'm annoyed that this was the one chance in my life for the Flames to play on my birthday, and they're not going to. Now, I just don't know if Friday or Sunday will be the 7-4 win.
Thursday is Johnny's birthday, so that will be a 7-2 win.

Man, my birthday is on the 18th and since I was a kid I’ve always wanted to somehow watch a game on my birthday. So we’ll have to win this series 4 games to 1.

While both Bishop and Khudobin have had great seasons, Dallas has also allowed a goal on the first shot on net nine times this season. Hope the Flames keep coming out with energy and take advantage of Dallas's slow starts.

I hope they don't lull us in to a snoozefest then. Hopefully Tkachuk almost ends a man's career in the first 2 minutes and wakes everybody up...lol.
But in all seriousness we need to make damn sure we aren't playing from behind this series at all. Get a goal or 2 right off the bat and keep going for more.
I've seen us try and sit on 1 goal leads and its not good on a man's heart.
Beat Dallas!!!!

Is that so unusual if the average shooting percentage is around 9 %?

Funny when scanning all the sports sites and reading predictions we seem to be the popular pick to win.

And good goalie averages are .910-.920. The law of averages says sometimes that first shot goes.
ETA: In fact, the first shot being before a goalie is as warmed up - maybe it’s more likely to go in than an average shot.
