This may be the tweet of the year. Oil fans are something else.

We all focus on Staples but his Grandparents Skype podcast partner Bruce McCurdy is equally slow.

Like another kicker behind the grassy knoll?

Because pileups in the NHL where a player on top is slow to move never happen.

I think further down that thread someone pointed out that the oilers are in trouble because now they have another top 6 forward out. Don't know who they're on about personally.

Yeah, I've noticed that too where he was the only Oiler fan in that thread who was screaming for video evidence where the skate contact could be seen

It only made things worse with every hockey fan base thinking Oiler fans are scum for defending such an despicable act

I love how he's just getting tarred and feathered from all the reactionary replies on twitter

The whole scenario is of kASSian's making, blatant bear hug hold-- by him, blatant free leg kick by him.... throw the fool out for the season

Looking at a few Oilers media accounts this morning and they sure have had a weird, albeit typical Oilers reaction.

1. Don't say anything and hope nobody noticed the kick;
2. Everyone settle down, we need more camera angles to see if there was even a kick;
3. Okay, there was a kick but we need more camera angles to see if if made contact:
4. Okay, Kassian admits he made contact but he was just getting his leg free:
5. Allright, the video clearly shows Kassian's leg was free before the kick, but really it wasn't that hard;
6. Fine, its bad, but Chara's completely unrelated cross check is way worse;
7. My personal favourite where Staples agrees that hockey players are dumb and make mistakes and it's just "good old hockey";

Next up, after the suspension is announced there will be a coordinated Oilers media effort to push the narrative about how the league is out to get them and it's unfair, and they would be a dynasty if only people weren't so mean to them.

Just saw the after game talk with Gene and Spector. Can't believe Spector called the kick innocuous. What????? Losers all of them. Caveman keeps saying we were down for a while. I counted all of five seconds, although in Kassian's brain, that may seem like a long time.

Cernak clearly put himself in a vulnerable position by allowing himself to be bear-hugged.

Cernak should dress more appropriately if he doesnt want to get kicked with a skate by a methed up monkey. He was practically asking for it by dressing in such skanky hockey gear.

I can't wait to see how the Fox Propaganda Oilers media spins this to not be a big deal. Like honestly, I am legit looking forward to seeing how this gets spun by their fans mere weeks after crying about Tkachuk's ''dirty'' play.

Kassian is such an idiot, saying he was trying to get up. F off with that crap. Suspend his ass for the season. Imagine his skate slid up the jersey and god forbid sliced Cernak's neck. That legitimately could have happened. Christ what a dumb play.

Considering the NHL Laceration Task Force focus on these type of situations, accidental or intentional, and knowing they had a summit/meeting recently at the All-Star game... I can see them making an example of KavemanTM..

I would be disappointed with anything less than 8. If they want to make an example of this.. up to 15 is my guess.

The sad part about the NHL is they will take into account that the victim wasn't hurt, therefore slap on the wrist.

2-4 games max, IMO.

Dumbass Kass was openly critical of Parros when he got 2 games for that Tkachuk incident.

The book’s going to get thrown at him this time and it won’t be just 2-4 games

Pulling Tkachuk to the ice from behind with no helmet on, and now kicking at a players chest. Two incidents in the span of a few weeks that are well outside the bounds of a typical hockey play, both extremely dangerous plays that could have ended in really bad injuries.

He is dangerous to have on the ice. Send a message now or it will be too late for someone.
